Do the stats of Adele's "21" and "25" still amaze you today?

21 is undeniably the most successful album of the 21st century - over 30M+ copies sold (pure sales), 3 #1 global smashes, multiple Grammy wins, charting on the Billboard 200 for 10+ years...

25 was lightning in a bottle - everyone knew where they were when "Hello" dropped, selling 3.3M+ in her 1st week obliterating a 15 year old record of biggest 1st week sales by NSYNC, crossing 17.4 million sales in the span of 2 months... (to put it into context, Adele's "21" sold 18 million in its best year 2011)

Do the stats still impress you in 2024?

What's your favorite stat of these eras?

Yes. Adele, the legend you are

No it only has 7.5 Billion streams on Spotify so it's kind of a flop :doc:

I still think the 25 era is the best executed launch of the 2010s. Imagine if she had released a proper video for When We Were Young or Water Under The Bridge or made Send My Love the 2nd single,  but still what an amazing era to witness :clap3:

And 21 of course,  the biggest era of the 2010s as a whole.

Undoubtedly yes, 21 was such a cultural avalanche back in 2011 and maybe the most dominant 12 months someone has seen so far since the millennium.

Of course, what Adele did with those 2 albums was almost unprecedented, she was selling more than anyone else at that time.

I hated her so much during the 25 era for break Utada's record.

At this point that girlie has more variants than album sales.

Of course they are, no one was moving albums like her on top of having huge smashes and even their recurrent stats are good.

This will never happen again.

25 was an incredible era. A tornado that was unstoppable. And after 21 that everyone thought Adele wouldn't be able to match. Just incredible. And the tour was phenomenal, too.

Kinda, yes.

But I was there and 21 was a moment. Really the album, before and numbers and whatever. It was special. I remember listening to 21 for the first time to this day. Totally understood why it blew up like it did.

25 I never heard though.

Yes, the fact that no one has come close to these stats ever since :jonny:

Do what? TTPD was still short of almost 1M to match 25's records. And let's not talk about the UK

In fact, 25 pulled 1M sales for several weeks after that as well

Yeah, but honestly, y'all gotta stop leaning on her past success to say she's the biggest artist right now
