So you're telling me that Gaga is pulling a Mariah moment with Disease? :gaycat1:

I ran for someone else :suburban:

I came for... one of Mariah's best songs? Nevermind.

What a disappointment. :noparty:

I thought it was about someone else and only came for the drags.

She would have continued to flop if 'We Belong Together' never happened considering 'It's Like That' flopped. Luckily though that's not what happened. That era was a huge obsession for me.

Well, of course it underperformed considering her '90s standards,  but nobody was going to expect her to  even crack h100 top 20 by mid '00. And aside from a MC comparison,  the single still managed to do quite well for the standards of the time in terms of popolarity, impact and also chart peaks. It's more on the way around,  WBT sized hits weren't as common back then and this of course brought her back a lot of attention, especially because she already had one of those huge sized hit with OSD back then, hence make it all look even more peculiar and unprecedented. The whole sWBT situation,  along with the Following success of SIO and the 1-2 hold she had with WBT and SIO on the h100 completely overshadowed the relevance ILT had for her career in that moment.

come to think of it, It's Like That was Mariah's Family Affair: a breezy, fun, carefree up-tempo that was considered as their respective comeback at the time (even though Mary J. Blige's song was more successful). But I'm getting the same vibes from both of those songs :katie2:

What a Moment this was. Seeing ILT on MTV for the first time and somehow feeling this was the start of something GRAND.
