Yeah all her big hits post Applause have been ballads except for ROM (#ThankYouAriana). To the GP she's become actress/tribute/ballads chanteuse like a new Barbra Streisand. It is what it is. At least she has Vote with a Smile to get her through this floppage.
djcalpal Posted November 5 Posted November 5 2M daily streams is not a flop. Y'all need to relax. 7 4
Hurem Posted November 5 Posted November 5 12-23-38-51-63-41-41-34-38-55-49 Spotify chart run is a bit all over the place, but with the way it started freefalling in the first week, I fully expected it to leave top 100 by now. It's good that its positions stabilized, I hope it manages to stay above 2M daily streams before the Christmas songs start flocking the charts. 2
AvadaKedavra Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) I think the best decision mainstream wise for her next single would be a Disco-Synthpop song with 80s-70s vibes or maybe a feat with The Weekend or Post Malone? a strong male singer in the charts. The biggest hits from this decade are disco (Say So/Levitating/Kiss Me More/Flowers/Espresso) and there are some blinds spilling how this new record is highly influenced by eurodisco-rock music. if she has one of those i think it would be the best decision commercially wise This song is great but it showed how the GP is not here anymore for her overly produced electronic tracks or weird gaga. Sad but thats how things are now the new gens are so basic lol. But if she has artistry she will stand by this era and release the dark album. If she's chasing the charts she will scrap everything and come with ASIB II Sometimes i feel like the smartest decision would have been a Double album. LADY = Showing her AC side-folky GAGA = All the weird side and crazy Gaga The GP is also in a very happy state of things now. If you notice Sabrina,Chappel,Charli have very cutesy-soft or camp music So, this type of dark songs are not gettin big traction. Im just grateful we have something different and not another predictable song from Gaga Die with a Smile feels so predictable-manufactured. This one was one her best. She's winning musically. Why everything has always to be focused on the charts. There's more than that Look how Taylor and Beyonce didnt care about the charts for (Beyonce-Lemonade-Folklore-Evermore) and showed evolution. Where theyre now? Rooting for this song to be a "Dark Horse" and a "sleeper hit" tho Edited November 5 by AvadaKedavra 3

alfonso12 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I've heard a lot about this "the GP only wants ballad Gaga and not dance/pop Gaga" argument and I don't think it's accurate. Let's remember Million Reasons would've flopped without the Super Bowl and Hold my hand flopped. Still, Rain on me and Bloody Mary were dance/pop hits. I think the real problem is that the music is not good enough, Disease is really forgettable, the "ah-ah screaming for me baby..." part is the only kinda catchy part of the song imo. I don't ever feel like I want to listen to the song and I say this as someone that has stanned since 2008. 2 1 1 5

Babar2009 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I agree with this. Disease is okay, but it's not quite good enough. Will be interesting watching her next move, as I'm not sure how she can get a hit this era and not be Katy Perry'd.

Bloody Mary was a VIRAL due to a very specific reason, and it had to be sped up which I think it's ridiculous. Rain On Me was a hit, but not even close to the level of Shallow and now DWAS. And what's so special about Rain On Me? It's a good song, but nothing super out of this world to say that it's soooo much better than Disease (that would be very personal). Disease is great, it has levels, it has a strong building, creative vocal choices, and an amazing music video. The thing is...every artist at her age/point of her career struggles to keep huge numbers. It doesn't take away the legend status, it's here to stay. Stop worrying about huge numbers. People seem to think that a song being streamed almos 2 million times every day is the worst flop in the world and the music seem to not matter anymore. 1 2
Mr. Peanutbutter Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Walking the elevated treadmill to the rhythm of this song is a vibe
lilrobomonster Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I played this the other day towards the end of a run, and it really helped me push through. Really great track to keep going forward

It's kinda hard to tell how the era will pan out going forward but I definitely do not see this era being on the same level as 143.
