blastoisebaby Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Love the song - Love the looks in the music video ,but it kinda gives nothing, like what is actually going on - she gave us Alejandro , Judas, Born This Way, Telephone and Bad Romance - Like was there a storyline? Also who ever said there'd be judas type dancing - you will have you days,my hopes were sky high. Love the song tho. Think the video just needed more elaboration on the story. 2 1

You're joking, right? 1
doonerr Posted October 30 Posted October 30 How is she back exactly? In the sense that she's still in her AHS: Hotel era or whatnot? 1 12

TryMe Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I don't like or dislike the mv. I did not really get it, which is probably the point?
Truth Teller Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I'm too vanilla for this but I appreciate it. It's a very intense visual all around, it matches the song and there's some real effort there. Her only other post-ARTPOP visual that served like this was 911 It's also very niche and conceptualized to be repulsive, so it's not a mass consumption thing. I'm not exactly sure if the plan is to offer overdue fan service to the Born Brave girlies or if there's no plan at all and she's just doing her, but they're definitely not going for GP/TikTok/Reels with this. It's something else 1
Massive_Teardrop Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Loved the looks in the music video and her Song needs a little less camp on the vocals and fuller sound imo. Def has grown on me a bit since the weekend but will be skipping the song when I listen to the album lol 1
Kimi Posted October 30 Posted October 30 What you mean yall don't get it, She explained it so plainly it's her and the demons in her fighting, she's running away but the darkness will always be there and will wreck her up. So she fights with rough looking gaga, has that lil bdsm with sexy gaga, runs away from high fashion gaga. all different versions of her that she might've been trying to escape from but she can't. 5 2
shark_heather Posted October 30 Posted October 30 This is dated AF , song AND MV This entire thing belongs somewhere between Born this Way and Artpop era I dont understand how is possible artists not be able to be current , they dont see what kind of songs and MV are cool atm ? A "Guess" type of song from Gaga would have been lit 3 4 3 18
Taylor fanboy Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Love DarkGa but it is below of what we usually get from her visually. 1

A "Guess" type of song from Gaga would have been lit How can Guess be current when it's not even a global hit nor was it ever a new sound or common sound on the radio right now? Also, calling maximalist dated is just against the norm of the current "sound". What is a current sound anyway? I prefer big electropop over the subdued Lana Del Rey'd MIDs I got from Midnights. 4 1

I feel like your standards are too high. We won't be getting MVs like that from her or really anyone else. It isn't worth it anymore to put that level of effort and budget into a music video. Youtube is dead and the views don't affect a song's success. We're even seeing artists just straight up not release them now like Chappell Roan for GLB and Beyonce for Renne and CC. At least Gaga still occasionally gives us an amazing video made on a lower budget like this and 911. 2
Capris Groove Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) It was very Dawn of the Dead (2004) opening actually. The concept is clearly well thought-out and she acts the hell out of the driver character. Major props to her. The second verse is where some choreo could have been imo. It would have fit in beautifully for her to dance on top of herself. Which would add another layer, juxtaposing the euphoric high of a drug while keeping the real Gaga down/crushed. Ah well! Maybe for a live performance one day. Edited October 30 by Capris Groove 2
homosexual_behaviour Posted October 30 Posted October 30 i get what she was going for with the mv but it felt like it should've been a surprise mv to close the era (sort of like a gift to the fans) that look in the car was also so cinematic (it was giving cvnty jeepers creepers) so it's a bummer she wasted it like that. imagine if she were a serial killer terrorizing a bunch of evil white men in a suburban neighborhood coupled with some sickening choreo 1 1

That is true - MV decline is truly upon us,which is sad, because I do feel it adds so much - I genuinely didn't get this one ,thought my sister thinks it's about the black death illness??? I would love someone to break it down highkey, because I think I would be able to understand/appreciate it more if I got the references more. 1 1

We're talking about quality here, we're not comparing artists. Disease is in the vein of Madonna's Frozen and Christina's Fighter, but clearly a bootleg version. I don't give a f*** about star power and commercial success. They can all flop miserably and it wouldn't move a hair on me. That being said, if you want to play this game, then no matter who GaGa has surpassed in her career.. Neither Madonna nor Christina will ever have such a high-budget flop and a stench in their careers as embarrassing as JFAD; Bionic, Body Of Evidence and Swept Away included. That's all. 1 1 6
