I was surprised to see the mixed reception for this one... and then I wasn't.

Further proof of a deep generational chasm that divides ATRL into two camps; the twentysomething pop sophisticates with 15 to 20 years of top-shelf pop consumption to their name, and an unruly kid crew with Addison Rae avatars and tributes to Chappel Roan in their signatures. It's not that the latter generation is a lost cause entirely, but they've clearly never heard a "Gaga" — that is, they've never encountered a voice quite as distinctive as Gaga. "But I know Gaga! Chromatica was the first album I bought!" First off, ask for a refund. And no, you don't know Gaga, you know a very stilted and subdued version of the iconic performer.

The Gaga of "Disease" is Gaga as Gaga is intended to sound. She very skillfully vacillates between a range of tones; she nasally, then guttural, then grainy, then nasally again, then delicate. (And yes, that's how she's supposed to do it.) She's sultry. She's goofy. She's sounds slightly absurd. She's fully engaged. She's expressive in ways that "technically superior" vocalists just aren't. She is brilliant. You have no idea how brilliant she is.

This is the probably purest attempt Gaga has made to harness some of that ineffable charm that made her early work so irresistible. I adore it.

Mixed reception from the OGHs maybe?? cause the song is universally acclaimed by critics...

Lazy, weak, blank and noisy. Looks like a rushed mess from fridge, it fits in Artpop. Even mid 143 songs like Lifetimes are miles better than this.

Like the biggest chunk of her fanbase (on and off ATRL) loves Disease, the critics love it , we'll see how GP sees it. Nothing is lukewarm. Just OGHs being pressed and uninspired as USUAL

actually, Chromatica also used Helvetica (or a version of it) for a lot of its type. its also on the tour poster etc. idk im just kind of tired of her having these basic logos, all things considered. Her design team's typography choices are so bland. Futura for The Fame, Franklin and Helvetica for TFM, Impact for BTW, Helvetica for ARTPOP... she deserves something that stands out. but none of this truly matters, im just a design geek.

After more than 10 listens…. it is still…..boring and bland. Its not catchy, it cant make you sing along or have something to get stuck in your head. The verses are good tho.

4 years of waiting and DWAS and she releases this mediocre song. Disappointed because I had high expectations.  Where is the Lady Gaga that used to write songs like Bad Romance, Poker Face, Alejandro ..? Seems like she wasnt the mastermind behind those songs but RedOne.

The only positive thing is that its better than Perfect Illusion and Stupid Love.

Anyhow, I can see Disease flopping and in two weeks it will be forgotten.

but it was used for the singles exclusively. and its not really something to marvel at but maybe thats because I always think of that pornstar who got a giant tattoo of it and BTW also used Champion, another overused font thats at least somewhat sexy.

I somewhat like the type design on the Time Square display

Yeah I was so excited for this and it's been incredibly underwhelming. It's better than PI/Stupid Love so that's good I guess

Maybe the video will make me like the song more
