She's getting an influx of streams on the YouTube audio as it is a new release and then will get another influx of streams once the video is out. Perhaps that's the strategy. I don't see this smashing but it's def a great song. She's already proven herself over the years. Doesn't NEED to smash 16 years into her career Omg sis how've you been?? I missed you! I haven't seen you post on here in a while. OT: A HML x Bloody Mary BOP! The lyrics will take a bit to get use to but the instrumental

Azealia Banks Posted October 25 Posted October 25 She still has it in her and thank you michael polansky!
Edonis Posted October 25 Posted October 25 In her holy trinity of leads tbh (Bad Romance/Just Dance/ and now Disease) this is such a FRESH take on pop music, I'm glad its getting a warm reception from fans and critics alike 1
lgaga1fan Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I find the whole 'bad lyrics' critique funny because this song is written almost exactly like a song like Monster which people call a pop hymn. Starting to think everybody still doesn't get who LADY GAGA really is even after almost 20 years. 3 1

BUT, I can't help but feel like the nostalgia effect is actually doing her no favours. It's inevitable to compare it to her older hits ('cause the intention to emulate them is obvious) and that is exactly where the song pales a bit in terms of freshness and originality. I think I like it more 'cause it sounds promising in terms of what the overall album could sound like, rather than appreciating it for the song itself. So basically, this is the right direction for her but I'm not gonna lie: I was expecting more and now I'm expecting even more from the record. I agree this makes me very excited for the album. Your expectations for the lead seem like they were way too high though, especially considering you have a negative opinion of her other lead singles… You baguettes hold this woman to an impossible standard. This is more or less what most of her original fans have been begging for a now that it's here it's not innovative enough or treads overly familiar territory? It's exhausting lol 4 1

Not a Kylie Minogue fan accusing a song of mid and basic after the 1-2-3-4 middleness punch of Golden-Disco-Tension-Tension II 1
Outlaws Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Can't she give us another teaser at least? Like, just tease it, mother...

Sombre Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Now where the hell is that damn MV? Girl you're Lady Gaga, you drop the MV the same day the song drops like every other MPG. Pft. 2
eyeroll Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I like it! But it doesn't feel like something I'll proactively listen to once Halloween ends. Great end-of-October anthem tho. It makes me more curious about the album, I do like the heavier vibe she seems to be leaning into

Cruel Summer Posted October 25 Posted October 25 21 minutes ago, Phœb said: What an incredibly mid and 'basic' song as the kids like to say. Sorry Gaga, seems like you've lost it. Pass. What elements of this song make it basic to you? Of all the criticisms one could make about this song, this one confuses me most. It doesn't sound like generic radio fodder or capitulate to current mainstream pop trends, and it in fact embraces the sonic maximalism that's both a hallmark of Gaga's own Born This Way and ARTPOP eras and a defining feature of modern movements outside the mainstream or only just beginning to breach the threshold of mainstream, like hyperpop and the work of artists like Charli XCX. It's literally the exact opposite of basic. I could see an argument that maybe the lyricism is a little basic, but I would argue against that a little bit, too. 3

Dante Posted October 25 Posted October 25 She delivered! The vocals, vocal layering, cupcake moans, the beat and everything... ate!
Harrier Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I absolutely love it, but it does seem a bit niche or seasonal for a lead single. Like it's lacking in catchyness and general appeal . So I don't think this will be a hit for her even though it will slay on many of our Spotify charts
Marla Singer Posted October 25 Posted October 25 This is amazing, it's vintage Gaga. I'm excited for the music video.
Iuke Posted October 25 Posted October 25 sounds unintentionally outdated, but i still love it tbh so happy she went back to darkpop
Gottasadae Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I kinda like it, definitely better than SL, since it has BTW album vibes. Also, it reminds me a bit of this >>
