Haze Posted October 25 Posted October 25 It's not revolutionary or anything, but her vocals really elevate this and show how needed she is in pop music. This is her reclaiming her lane, there will be more adventurous songs on the album. And it gets better and better with repeated plays. 4
Venice B Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I think the song needs a punch. I don't know, it's not bad but it needed something more I think. It's very one note. 1 1

C SLAYCLAIR Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Okay some of y'all are bashing the song just because you don't like her but she cleared. I didn't like on first listen and now I love. It's no BTW that's a fact but that's also me being biased. Lets not discredit miss gaga

Agree. I was reading a book on melody + rhythmic theory and it has me looking at these recent Pop songs differently. They talk about how when a melody sits on the downbeat mostly…it can come across boring. Or missing something. I think that's the issue. Production is solid…but I needed more from the melody. I had the same issue with Dua's "Illusion". 1
Infernal Paradise Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) 5/5 from The Evening Standard https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/music/lady-gaga-disease-single-review-b1190073.html This is a tune that will stay with you like a curse, in a good way. Disease has got wicked case of the earworms, burrowing their way into your brain after just one listen. If the nymphomaniac parasites from David Cronenburg's 1975 body horror Shivers had pursued a musical career, this would be their signature song. Edited October 25 by Infernal Paradise 8 1

I'm not hating just to hate, I'm giving reasons why I don't like it. she can get her point across without resorting to use synonyms and all kinds of medical terminology just to fit into the theme of the song.

The lyrics are clearly a metaphor and also about love. You're taking the lyrics way too literally. It's not that deep… Edited October 25 by Plasticdoll

Loroy Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Clash: Quote Disease' is the next variant of her contagion. In tapping back into her roots, Lady Gaga seems to have found pop renewal, amid a clanking, mechanised, tech-fuelled landscape. Gazing beyond the culture bleakness of a pop-pandemic world, she might just be the chaotic cure. Our mark? 9/10 Slant: Quote Just in time for Halloween, "Disease" finds Gaga falling back on some of the tricks from her early heyday—namely the macabre imagery and brash EDM stylings of 2009's The Fame Monster and 2011's Born This Way. Produced by Gaga, Cirkut, and Andrew Watt, the track is driven by a heavy industrial beat and squelchy bassline with enough heft to support Gaga's characteristically bombastic performance. independent: Quote With typical dramatic flare, she pares everything back on the final chorus to desolate piano notes and her diaphanous falsetto, before another growl and a final, rip-roaring salvo. "Disease" is like a defibrillator to the chest, jolting us out of our stupor. Welcome back, Mother Monster. 8/10 Standard: Quote This is a tune that will stay with you like a curse, in a good way. Disease has got wicked case of the earworms, burrowing their way into your brain after just one listen. If the nymphomaniac parasites from David Cronenburg's 1975 body horror Shivers had pursued a musical career, this would be their signature song. 10/10 The acclaim so far I just know that the poor OGHs who pretend they don't like it have been playing it nonstop since it came out 6
Adam’s Eve Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Someone send help, I can't stop listening The beat The gagging/orgasm sounds between verses It's a bop, I fear! 2 1
ahauntingnearu Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Can we leave that loser out of this thread's discussion? OT: liking this more and more with each listen. There are a few truly heinous vocal moments but I love bthe instrumental and the chorus really hits 1
