LikeATattoo Posted October 21 Posted October 21 BTD is better and more influential. It was sonically revolutionary unlike 21, and is much cooler to revisit. 21 feels more iconic to me simply for its sheer commercial enormity, but BTD really felt like a cultural reset at the time. This part of the question could go either way tbh. 1
24 Hours Posted October 21 Posted October 21 For both 'Rolling in the Deep' and 'Born To Die', I clearly remember where I was the first time hearing both songs/watching the music videos. Both songs belong separately to two of the most iconic albums ever released. Adele had her foot on the world's neck in 2011 and I do think (this my opinion) that she helped acclimate the GP's palate for the "sad girl pop" sound which then Lana came in and completely reinvented/turned on its side. This paved the way for the shift in Pop to what we see today. Both albums are incredible and deserving of helping change the Pop landscape. I do listen to 21 & Adele more often than Lana personally, but I will never forget how obsessed I was in 2012 with BTD.
