DiabeticGrandpa Posted October 20 Posted October 20 We all know Islam is a homophobic and anti feminist religion. im aware that there are women forced to the religion by society and families but there are others that willingly became Muslim. it's a contradiction 24
JO1s Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Why are Christian women okay with misogyny and homophobia? 6 3 1 1
GentleEarthquake Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Because religion acts like a poison piercing through humanity 1
LegaMyth Posted October 20 Posted October 20 There are some women who do NOT know how they should be treated because of what they are taught. Religion is meant to serve men. Even in the Christian Bible, women are blamed for the pains of Earth. The Bible also says, women are told to give up their bodies or they will be forced to give it up, aja r**e. Also, remember, there are some women that hate other women as well. 2 3
Kummercell Posted October 20 Posted October 20 The only women that are willingly converting to Islam are a) straight women who marry muslim men or b) white queer women trying to be edgy. For the first situation, most straight women just have no backbone, it's the same phenomenon as when they turn conservative after marrying conservative men. I don't think I can describe the second situation in a respectful manner so I'll pass.
nostalgic Posted October 20 Posted October 20 And you expect an overwhelmingly non-Muslim gay male dominated forum to be able to answer this question? 1

JO1s Posted October 20 Posted October 20 4 minutes ago, DiabeticGrandpa said: Why the downvotes? Are These people tryin to somewhat defend Islam? This is a problem of organized religion in general, to blame it on Islam alone is Islamophobia. Plain and simple. 2

Sorry but I dont see the pastor at my local church beheading gay men or force women to cover up. There's a mega different between Islam and Christianity 1 7
Pikachoo Posted October 20 Posted October 20 (edited) 9 minutes ago, DiabeticGrandpa said: Why the downvotes? Are These people tryin to somewhat defend Islam? Islam is untouchable among left queer circles. you can bash Christianity all you want (and lbh christianity deserves it but at least some denominations of christianity like episcopalianism are open) but Islam is off limits, despite the fact that the vast majority of muslim countries make it at best a jjailable offence to be gay or atheist and at worst capital punishment Edited October 20 by Pikachoo 7 4
bad guy Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I mean the Bible blames Eve for failing God's test, giving into temptation, birthing the original sin, and unleashing pain/death/suffering/guilt/shame/separation from God so you tell me how women raised in organized religious households over the last 2000 years would hold some kind of misogyny Islam just hasn't modernized much so it gets the most "backlash" now

Im not gonna post gruesome things here but yes my point is still valid: Islam is far worse than Christiantiy and we should be able to call it out 2
Orsay Posted October 20 Posted October 20 The fact is all Abrahamic religions do have sexism and homophobia baked into their doctrines. Not ALL followers of these religions are strict followers of the doctrines, but many are. And rather than resorting to whataboutisms or the singling out of one of them, we should hold all sexism, homophobia and any other form of bigotry equally accountable, regardless of which religion it stems from 1
Flare Posted October 20 Posted October 20 This thread is funny because only like 2 people genuinely answered and everyone else deflected to Christianity as though we (as people 18 to 30+ on social media) don't see Christianity questioned and bashed ALL THE TIME. Yet for some reason, we're never allowed to dissect other religions. Christianity has issues and so do other religions. It would be nice one day to actually discuss them without constant "whataboutism". 8
Pavement Princess Posted October 20 Posted October 20 You're clearly coming from an antagonistic position, but I will say it's interesting that some people don't hold the same energy for other religions that they do Christianity. There is extremity in every religion, but Islam is the least progressive when it comes to its treatment of women. 6
noodlelymph Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Genuine question to the ATRL moderation staff here: If this thread was titled "why are Jewish women okay with misogyny" (lol at this user being such a nonce they can't even spell the word correctly) would that be grounds for a zero tolerance policy ban? 1 2

You stated it even better than me (even down to clocking the OP). 1

Some of them willingly became Muslim
mons†er Posted October 20 Posted October 20 If you're not Muslim woman why do you care so much? Are you looking to convert?
