I'm going to be really brave now and confess my deepest darkest sin...

I still love the mid 2010s '' tropical ''  or otherwise summery era of house and dance music. So uplifting, positive and feel good!

It feels like this era of music has been kind of looked down upon for a while now, and I'm not sure why. Any guesses, ideas or opinions as to why?

Fair enough, we all have our tastes!

Honestly, time is flying by, and with late 00s-early 2010s EDM and indie tumblr pop already having somewhat of a "revival" and ramping up a lot of nostalgia online, it probably will be only another 5-7 years before we start seeing people nostalgic for this too. Which is wild to me, because I HATE this sound, but it dominated the airwaves for a while so clearly people love it.

the problem with this trend is that for every good song there was about 10 terrible rehashes :rip: no genre or style of music is inherently bad and i don't believe anyone that says they they don't like one specific type of genre. you probably just haven't heard how great that particular genre can be

To be fair, I'm not exactly wishing for this type of music to come back! Because it wasn't just the music, it was also just a very great time of my life when this type of music was everywhere. I love the music, yes, but the nostalgia has a lot to do with other things, not just the genre. Ironically, I'm not a huge summer person, but there's something about summer that really heightens my experience of listening to music, especially if that music is perfect for those summer vibes, like tropical house is. So like, it's waves upon waves of feel-good nostalgia hitting my face when I go back to listen to this type of music. I don't think a tropical house revival would make me feel similar feelings, but I am always up for more unassuming, unpretentious feel good positive music that's just good vibes and nothing more.

This kinda music just reminds me of Ibiza with my bf and friends when I was 18, crazy nostalgia. :chick3:

Galantis is legit my #16 most played artist of all time on Spotify because I used Spotify for teaching about 2000 spin classes. But they are 1/2 of Bloodshy & Avant plus they worked with Dragonette so that plus a Britney connection no wonder I love everything they touch.

The chokehold this song had on every spin teacher in 2015:
