Schami66 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Gotta Be You is the ONLY song from Taller In More Ways that I HATE. Theres a few I don't care about but Gotta Be You... I hate that song. I don't see how that song has any single qualities. I get the idea but no. Bruised, Obsession, 2 Hearts give me single vibes. Ace Reject and Like The Weather too but they would need a single version. 1

That was EASILY going to become a #1 for them in the UK especially with Call The Shots smashing that same year which that song sounds similar to. And then there's the insane fact that they rejected Dontcha by PCD Imagine releasing Dontcha right after Push The button....that album would be 6x platinum instead of 3x platinum which is already amazing but it could have been such a bigger era too lol Everything after Mutya left was bad decision after bad decision From releasing Follow me home as summer single to not releasing Easy on physicals and then removing it from stores to push GH sales made it seem like a flop single and that was the start of their damaged reputation while SKO and TSOGA smashed. And less said about Change and Denial as singles the better... Or the styling of the era which made them seem like they were in their mid 40s. They became music for moms with Change over night. 1

It had a lot of hype from critics, fans, the internet. It would've been massive single if released at the time.

The stans' in-depth knowledge and insane memory that's keeping the history of these acts. I didn't know any of this, thanks! 1
reymiu Posted November 7 Posted November 7 don't forget Ace Reject from that same album Like TIMW could have been a monstrous era if done right 1 1
xokuba Posted November 7 Posted November 7 TIMW has bops after bops. I am not very fond of Gotta Be You but the sound would smash back in the day. The change from "look at Mutya" to "look at this ****" will never not make me laugh

TIMW is such a hit or miss album for me, it has songs that are absolute bangers (PTB, Bruised, Red Dress, Ace Reject) and some total flops, but Gotta Be You is just unlistenable. I think fans rate it over Change, but imo Change is a much stronger and more consistent album (tho the era was a mess except for AYN). 1
