Popular Post Body Talk Posted October 16 Popular Post Posted October 16 You're dense if you think arranging an operatic bridge doesn't warrant a credit. 13 3

And that's what happens with most Beyoncé songs. She's a vocalist and someone like Ryan is not gonna write an operatic bridge he himself can't sing. Those type of details make or break songs. Same with II Most Wanted. There's a change in tempo and phrasing, the melodic line in the chorus goes to a higher note, and then there's the very obvious higher harmonies (which Miley wouldn't be able to sing herself) and overall change in production. A lot of decisions have been taken to take those demos to the final songs. But of course ATRL will act dense as always, as if she was taking 90% of the credits. 9
Truth Teller Posted October 16 Posted October 16 It's a very minor embellishment, but it matters. It's important to keep a verse from being samey. I know it sounds dumb to praise someone for adding the word "again" somewhere but it's not about the vocabulary aspect. It's about adding two extra syllables and notes to the phrase, making it longer than the previous phrases and adding a minor switch to the melody and structure of what would otherwise sound like a nursery rhyme. And it's this kind of musical consulting that Max Martin and a certain alleged rapist also get credit for on their camp's work, so it's not a Beyonce thing 2 1

Timber Posted October 16 Posted October 16 She created the opera part. Definitely deserves writing credit.

I think that's actually production credit, which I think she has on Halo and lots of her songs, deservedly so. The funniest part of this thread is people assuming Bey got credit for songwriting for this particular song when she didn't get any for lyrical composition on Halo from what I've seen. That's the actual gag of this whole thread and situation People are reacting based off of this person's mostly harmless comments and her reputation for taking undeserved credit 2
Pepo Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) Britney, Taylor, and Bad Bunny stans of all people (!!!!!!) proving to be the laughing stocks they are Bey's operatic notes warranted her a writing credit, so? What's wrong with that? I know, it's quite hard for your brain cells (or lack of thereof) to comprehend that even vocal producers and arrangers are given a credit for their input. The jokes are literally writing themselves. Beyoncé is actually the one who's capable of executing such technicalities, seethe Edited October 16 by Pepo 1
Slap Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) I do find it funny that behind all our pop girls from the 90s/00s there is often an old straight white man who doesn't know what poppers are that worked on songs with them. That said it is giving slight Ave Maria ASCAP teas, pls don't come for my ass in your Freakum Dresses, I love Beyonce, I've seen ha live and love ha music. Edited October 16 by Slap

Like he said she added the word "again" in this song. #ThankyouBeyonce 1
