Likingstars Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Not DIL being that huge back in the day I thought it would be Cruel Summer though but it turned into a single last summer? 1
roso Posted October 16 Posted October 16 That's huge (and deserved, such a great song) It surpasses DIL2, Feeling Myself, Loveee Song and Birthday Cake (+ Chihiro) 1
naval23 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 that is INSANE and both are A+ songs wow Beyonce holding the record for 21 years omfg
ScorpiosGroove Posted October 16 Posted October 16 weird, i was told last year that opening RWT with dangerously in love was useless since nobody knows that song

BGKC Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Please! I knew Dangerously in Love was a cult classic, but I didn't know the specifics. Kudos to Billie! 2

descg Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) Dangerous In Love, the song she stole as part of Destiny's Child album, making it as a solo song, though it was even worse later with Check On It (with Kelly's vocals) "feat. Beyonce" at number one compilation, embarrassing. #JusticeforDestiny'sChildmembers Edited October 16 by descg 2
Blackout2006 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Genuine question tho, how could non-singles chart on the BB Hot 100 if they were sold only with the album back then?

VioletsandRoses Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I mean DIL was played by radio. It peaked at #17 on urban radio. Especially In 2003 digital sales were almost 0 so billboard was basically the radio chart. But great achievement regardless for Billie and Beyonce.

Beyonce even talked about it during her 2nd era (I was a stan back then) and she had a Walmart DVD exclusive with like 2 hours of content and an interview and she thanked BET for airing the visual because pop wouldn't and she was glad the single did what it did considering it got little support. Also, pre 2000s artists were notorious for having radio singles without a video for at least once or twice in their era...then again they were releasing 5-8 singles per era and running the campaign for two years so... 1
