Jack! Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I think they'll get a hit of some merit with their next project. Every one of Sam's era's has had a song that did alright on the charts or on the radio in certain places. I hope their next project is more in vein with Love Goes and the non-album singles that came before it. I'd say it's the nicest sonic to go along with their vocals.
BOOMBAYAH Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Sam is one of those rare artists where if they wanted to get constant hits and be a huge star, they could, but it seems they want to priorities authenticity and focus on their own creativity, so it's just a matter of if the public likes the more experimental stuff they put out or not. 2
unclefloprry Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Sam just needs a Karen hymn-ballad to have a succesful comeback

I don't think Sam is the kind of artist who wants to be known down line for creating songs like unholy for the rest of their career, Sam has stated many times, that any genre of music is game for them, but Sam definitely doesn't wanna be an controversial figure for too long, as they stated in the bbc prom intermission, they would like to return to making "appropriate" pop.

I can't see the GP clicking with these big gowns and corsets, especially since they got lashed up and down for it last time in the media and online Well the problem last era was that a lot of the outfits were just bad, period. They were going for extravagant, colorful and statement-making, which I can respect, but at the end of the day I think it's fair to say when an outfit is super unflattering and honestly just looks messy. I'm all about Sam embracing their natural body, but whatever size your body is, you need to proportion correctly make sure the fit works for you! Sam's outfits and general style seem to have improved quite a bit in the last year or so. Some pretty dresses on the tour. My fave outfit last era was actually this one, this was very fun: And this dress was very pretty: Whoever let them wear this one, though, had it out for them :

I agree but that was the point of their dress code was to wear anything regardless of proportions but it may have sounded good on paper but the execution was very much miss and I say this as a Stan but there was couple of cute outfits of late last year & this year
CallumDavies Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I'm not a huge Sam Smith fan but the appetite from the GP is there, if her puts out the sort of music and aesthetic they are looking to buy into Not sure if he'll do another era for the straights though

DiabeticGrandpa Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I cant stand Sam and their gimmicks but what people said it's true: they always somehow get a hit so Im sure they have another on the sleeve. Not gonna listen though. Good for them, sorry that it happened 1

The7thStranger Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I think Sam is here to stay, at least on Europe. But I'm still waiting for them to give me one album that is fantastic from start to finish. More Omens, more Diamonds, fewer Unholys please.
alexaalto Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Love Goes (the whole expanded deluxe bonus special track edition with 20+ tracks) is amazing, I just love how it has the pop/dance/elecronic tracks (DWAS, Another One, HDYS, Diamonds, Promises, etc) and the classic old vibe Sam Smith tracks (TDF, Laurel Canyon, FTLTIL, Breaking Hearts, Sober, So Serious) and so much. After Love Goes Gloria felt good but a bit short to me with some of those interlude type of tracks (Hurting, Dorothy's, Gloria (I just don't see that as a full song with a runtime 1:50)) and Unholy was never a hit for me plus the features minus Calvin Harris have not hit me yet. but I do like Lose You, INHTMF, Unholy Acraze remix, Kissing You, Six Shots and No God. Another Love Goes would be an absolute dream for me, idc i just like Sam's music 2

Qrcode Posted Monday at 03:38 AM Posted Monday at 03:38 AM Anyone who believes sam is over either just a hater or just wrong. There are so many tricks sam is yet to play. I know about like 5 artist that if sam were to collaborate with it would be an instant hit Not to mention the formula for bagging hits changes every 5 years or so. Sams team carefully studies the trend. The whole teasing song trend exploded because of the succes of unholy. If it is true that sam is returning back to their roots then a moderate to major hit song is almost guaranteed. However they might need some help should they choose to remain experimental. And finally sam needs to make music that caters to every demographic not just the gays. As we can see the gay are very 👀. But fans fear not, haters buckle up sam smith is far from over.
trainsskyscrapers Posted Monday at 05:23 AM Posted Monday at 05:23 AM (edited) 2 things might work. They need to: (1) Release hidden gem "Good Thing" from their debut album as a single with a good music video for the fans ... and (2) Work on an album co-written with Jazmine Sullivan, SYD & Steve Lacy (The-Internet), Jimmy Napes, Homer Steinweiss, Emile Haynie, Tobias Jesso, Disclosure, Rick Nowels, Frank Ocean, and Malay Ho. I want narrative-driven songs, live-instrumentation, symphony orchestra strings, jazz, maybe an underwater dance vibe for a few songs, and darker cinematic sounds.
