Europe Posted October 15 Posted October 15 There will be an app that replaces TIkTok and then something even later, will you be on that? Are you going to learn the slang the 15 year olds use? Will you embrace the latest software updates they come up with in 2040? Or can you see yourself becoming more set in your ways and sticking with Windows 2007 for as long as possible?
Gelato Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Technology/software for sure since it'll be important for work. I can't say I'll necessarily keep up with new social media platforms beyond the age of like 40 though I might try to get some kind of basic understanding of new slang when I'm older but I wouldn't use it. It will be a new generation's time to shine and be cool, and trying to imitate them would be creepy. 1
LittleCupid Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I'm already out of touch with (pop) culture most of the time but I'm interested in future technology. 3
SoldierofLove Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I think we will all naturally keep up with technology and what the kids are into to some extent. Look at the older generation now. 1
Sombre Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Currently, not really, no because I just cannot see myself using a VR headset. Just so dystopian. 3
Gladiator Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Only when it relates to my career and only in regards to hardware and new frameworks, etc. 1
Burn Posted October 15 Posted October 15 No. I'm already a hag. I've never used Tik Tok in my life. 3

montacelo Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I'm feeling out touch with technology already I just can't be bothered to care or try that much anymore 1
byzantium Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I'm already not on Snapchat and Tik Tok. But I'll try to be self aware about it and not like some other out of touch people complaining that "this new technology, streaming, inflates sales".
єѕℓαм Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Hmm i never use tiktok but i do use snap so idk it depends on the technology ig
RussianRoulette Posted October 15 Posted October 15 No. I'll stick to what my generation is using. I don't see myself in a few years as an adult to keep up with the teens. I've seen so many embarrassing 45 year olds to have an account for an app who has mostly a teenage demographic with like 5 followers.
Achilles. Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Technology and pop culture have already passed my end points I fear. I will not be adapting to AI. I despise all of the home tech. Alexa, Nest, all of that. Anything that listens to me, watches me, speaks to me. Why does my television remote have a microphone in it? Why is a refrigerator connected to the internet? It's all data collection and spyware I fear. As for pop culture, I have a roster of a few dozen artists who I really enjoy and spend most of my time listening to. I only make room for a few new acts in my library on a yearly basis, and most of them are already fairly established acts who have at least a small back catalog for me to get into. I barely know these gen Z acts at all. Movies and television, on the other hand, are a lot easier and more interesting to keep up with.
EtherealCat Posted October 15 Posted October 15 ill keep up with what interests me, im not going to desperately cling to youth
Subzero Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Since my life is technology heavy, probably but not to an extreme. Just as long as I have a good pc and it runs the softwares I need, that's good enough. I ain't buying no robots or some sh*t
Gorjesspazze9 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 To an extent you kinda have to. In 5-10 years automation and A.i will take most jobs away. Gonna have to adapt to independent social work eventually m. Even now, most people have multiple jobs and careers just to pay thier bills. Becoming an influencer is already what the youth wants to be when they grow up. Doctors, lawyers, food service… all these will be replaced by technology very soon.
Heldenzeit Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I already stopped tbh. Never used TikTok and I'm just not interested in what it offers either.
dussel_06 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I will still upgrade to new iphone models. Because that's one of the greatest inventions ever. Excited for an AI Boyfriend though ala Dan Stevens, and if they ever create the virtual consciousness like San Junipero...

According to the statistics, the 18-30 demographic goes to the movies far more than the 40+ demo so even that is not the case, older people tend to stay home a lot more, at least that is what science says.
Sergi91 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I felt out of touched during the rise of VSCO app, VSCO girls, and that one app where you had to send a photo from front and rear cameras to friends at a certain time…
