Popular Post TomTom Posted October 13 Popular Post Posted October 13 (edited) 10 years ago today, Kesha and Dr. Luke filed dueling civil lawsuits against each other for sexual assault and battery (among other things) as well as defamation and breach of contract in California and New York, respectively. The ensuing litigation became one of the lengthiest, ugliest, most expansive and most expensive legal battles the entertainment industry has ever seen that reshaped the discussion of many topics surrounding the pop music business in a pre-#MeToo era, severely affected the careers of many of the involved and contributed to the change of certain musical trends in the pop music landscape at the time. Instead of yet another familiar breakdown of events, some lesser-known facts & figures about the sheer magnitude of this litigation: 8 years, 8 months and 12 days of litigation (10/14/2014-06/26/2023) litigation throughout 3 different administrations (Obama, Trump, Biden) litigation in 3 different states (California, New York, Tennessee) litigation in 5 different courts 7 litigated appeals, two of them decided by New York's highest court 3000+ publicly filed court documents 79 filed motions in New York alone over 70 deposed witnesses, one half of depositions being publicly available depositions by famous individuals including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Cirkut & Kool Kojak sworn affidavits by P!nk, Avril Lavigne & Taio Cruz over 100k produced documents by Kesha alone over 100 lawyers involved (including all witnesses and non-parties), more than two dozen of them on Kesha's and Dr. Luke's sides alone at least millions, more likely tens of millions of dollars spent in legal fees on each side Substantially, New York's highest court's 2023 decision on several issues of the case - being cited in decisions from over 20 other cases in New York state during the last year alone - continues to have profound impact on US defamation law and First Amendment rights by: clarifying that individuals who seek out publicity and attention for themselves can be deemed public figures abolishing a longstanding exception that made it possible for individuals to be sued for defamation for allegations made in official court documents in New York laying out the scope of New York's anti-SLAPP law, one of the broadest anti-SLAPP laws in the US ATRL Classic: Kesha & Dr. Luke sue each other (2014): https://classic.atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=695135 ATRL: Kesha & Dr. Luke settle lawsuit(s) (2023): Edited October 13 by TomTom 3 13

XxUrSweetSacrificexX Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) the fact that kesha did not receive any sort of justice in 2016 despite having several women come forward with terrible experiences with l*ke too seriously shows how ****** up the US judicial system is and how it will cater to those whom are highly connected in their industry. and lets also not forget he wanted the case closed immediately when kesha and her team started caking more evidence onto him during their last trial, just saying ❤️ Edited October 13 by XxUrSweetSacrificexX 7 1
State of Grace. Posted October 13 Posted October 13 10 years later, Dr. Pig's attempt at a mainstream Pop comeback FAILED miserably with BOMB OF THE YEAR aka 143, while Kesha is a free woman.mp3 doing her **** and now joining the bratosphere aka the music event of the year 5 8 1
SmittenCake Posted October 13 Posted October 13 And now he's condemned by the entire world and can't even produce good music. A loser through and through Now we celebrate miss Kesha en la casa joining the BRAT universe tomorrow 6 1
$ebert Posted October 13 Posted October 13 It was such a dark time for her, her fans and music industry in general. I remember having so much respect for artist who pronounced in favor of Kesha artists like, Taylor, Lady Gaga, Adele. They all know this industry is damaging to women and a few choose to speak up against what's wrong. Let not forget her label was sabotaging her music career, they didn't care for her anymore. They owned her voice and controlled everything that matter for her in her own life. Look at her now, just as her contract ended, she found freedom and she's been booked despite only releasing one song with no promo, still doing great numbers as her first independent release in her own record label. She has a great future and I'm so glad to have stayed for her in the darkest times, now we can all enjoy this joyride of freedom and happiness 9 1 1
Bubble Tea Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I hate how much time, effort and energy this stole from Kesha. It seriously diverted her from focusing on what should have even an even more collosal career. Still, she kept things moving tremendously. 3
tshwark Posted October 14 Posted October 14 (edited) Was die young after or with Dr Luke? horrible taste, why she had to release a demonic video, I get it, pop stars want to be edgy, but the only time a demonic satanism approach made sense and on brand was with Marilyn Manson, I guess she wasn't meant to last. Vixen Eyes Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Kesha is FINALLY on her own we love to see her with success 5
prettyinpink940 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I wonder if him and Katy ever talked about this. Like, is she curious or does she just not care? I would not be comfortable working with someone accused of such things.
Alaska. Posted October 14 Posted October 14 After so many years it's great to see Kesha finally happy again. May all the things she had to suffer help newcomers to not experience something like this as well. Praying.mp3 Kesha Records can become the healthiest music label out there with artists being able to explore and grow without outside vile creatures leeching off of them 3
