ChooseyLover Posted October 10 Posted October 10 All the girlies you listed have fanbases with their own names 1
Smarticle Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Everyone was following Ga Ga's repopularization of fan names at the time
P!nk Forever Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I thought it was a clear fact that you'd have to be a pink pony to enter Chappell's fanclub.
PoisonPill Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Ava Max stans are NOT "Maxipads"! That is fake news. We are AVATARS, I dm'ed Ava that suggestion in 2018 and she screenshotted it as the official announcement of the stanbase name! 3
Paddy Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Because that is staying in the 2010s where it should stay. Naming fanbase is good for what?
Achilles. Posted October 10 Posted October 10 They aren't big or established enough yet I think. I have heard of the Carpenters though. Even Jesus was one.
Saint James Posted October 10 Posted October 10 because it's corny and stan culture is demonic. fan power is more meaningless than ever currently as the voted awards are irrelevant, charts and streaming services filter them out, tickets and vinyls are bought by scalpers the only thing they need a fanbase for is to buy merch

Lüwís Posted October 10 Posted October 10 It's too corny nowadays. The first time I saw a pop star name their fans was LG and her "Monsters". Spoiler I believe Mariah Carey (and likely others) had her "Lambs" before the Monsters, but I had no idea, since her heyday was before I was even born, and I had little exposure to MC, so for me the first was LG. It seemed that, as soon as LG named her Monsters, during her peak, everyone else jumped on and started naming their fans, or the fans named themselves (the latter likely resulting in the most humiliating names). I won't name names, since I don't care for most of the pop girls, and also there's more embarrassing fan names than there are "decent" ones. Spoiler Except, I have to say, out of my absolute favourite artists, the corniest one, for me at least, has to be Rihanna "Navy". I just.... ever since I first saw it become as thing it's made me feel a certain way. I'm surprised someone as cool as her even allowed it, quite honestly. It's nice for nostalgia if the artist gives the hard-core fans a shout out at a show but that's all I can bear these days. 1
cat1867 Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I think most fanbases come with their own names in western pop and then the names get soldified when mainstream reporters use the name in pieces. But in general, fanbase names are more of a forum thing than a twitter thing so it will take more time for the new mpgs fanbase names to get solidifed and recognized.
PoisonPill Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I think with the growing pushback against parasocial relationships, we'll see fewer artists embrace fanbase names.

Feel like you'd run out of fanbase names really quickly too, and not every artist can have a catchy name like BeyHive, Navy, Raepists, etc. 2
BlondGuts Posted October 10 Posted October 10 It's cringe when an artist tries to make it themselves. For example, when Latto decided to name her fan base either the Lucky 7's or the jackpots when they wanted to be called the Mula Mob
Solaria Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Because they are unable to make it happen spontaneously or organically for a lack of a better term. The Lambily named themself, Gaga named her LMs not because she wanted a recognizable fandom name but because it was a term of endearment for her. Swifties created a whole family and insider culture based on their name alone. That sort of gathering together is really hard in the modern era where everything has been said and done already and where the music landscape is so fragmented. I mean Billie is the biggest Gen Z artist but she doesn't have a recognizable fandom name at all. I really feel like Liv is the last one to do it. LiviesHQ is relatively big for a more modern pop girl.
Holiest Dreams Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Maybe it's too on the nose and too long but it would make sense for Chappell fans to just be called The Pink Pony Club, no?
BrokenMachine Posted October 10 Posted October 10 It's seen as something old people used to do. Younger generations see it as 'cringe', and they'll get away from cringy things as much as they can
