What would be your response to people who say "All of Lana's music sounds the same"?

I've recently come across people who think Lana's music and vocals all sound the same on all of her albums.

What would be your response be if someone told you all of her music sounds the same?

I'd say it does. That's why she's never won a Grammy. NARAS hates when artists don't take risks.

"No it doesn't"

"So do jazz singers but you don't complain about them."

I'd tell them to clean their ears

I do think that to non-fans/casual listeners, it will sound samey....so some people won't get it.  That's just her style, and there's nothing wrong with sticking to it.  But if you show them her old unreleased stuff compared to some things she's released over the past decade, there's a bigger difference.

'No it doesn't' (x2)

But some say that about Taylor, or Rihanna, hell even Beyonce. I would just walk away, don't really care

I'd say it kinda sounds similar but there are distinct differences between the various albums she released. But overall it does have a vintage, moody, downtempo feel to it.

It obviously does lol, but there's nothing wrong with that.

these pretentious gays need to stop demanding artists to always have "variety" in their music. Some of them just don't want to stray away from their usual sound like for example Adele, and some simply don't have the range to try something different. And that's okay.

It does, but it's good… so what's the problem.

Didn't she admit that in a recent interview?

I'll agree with them.

Not all of it does.

After her first 3 albums, yes.

You have to be unfamiliar with her discography to agree with this. She has a unique soundscape, sure, but several of her albums are wildly different. Desert rock to trip hop to singer-songwriter to hip hop to baroque pop. Not even mentioning her unreleased discography.

It mostly has the same vibe, but you can't tell me with a straight face that Summertime Sadness, Summer Bummer and Doing Time all sound the same.

i would probably say "no it doesn't" and from there, combo into some sort of drop-kick or maybe a left-hook, open their spotify (or other preferred streaming service!) and hit play on the discog.

I'd angrily shake my fist at them and tell them no you're absolutely wrong! :rogue:

But on the flipside.mp3, I'd be jealous because that just means they haven't really listened to her discography and for that, I envy their virgin ears :rogue:

I think nothing sounds like Venice *****. National anthem sounds nothing like Terrence loves you, which sounds nothing like Florida kilos, which sounds nothing like white dress which sounds nothing like tough and so on and such forth…

i will disagree eventhough ive only heard west coast and video games

Born to Die / Paradise, Ultraviolence, and Honeymoon all sound distinctly different. Everything after that starts to sound same-ish
