Should Ariana Grande follow Lady Gaga's footsteps?

And release "Glinda", a 'companion' studio-album (NOT the official soundtrack!) to the Wicked movie inspired by the character she will portray? :jonny6:

I'm sure it would be a huge success :giraffe:

No the songs from wicked are already iconic and could become hits with her voice.

Wouldn't that be nice? For the fans it will always be the more music, the better. As long as it's not career suicide like 143.

She shouldn't. I'm still nervous that seeing Nathan's face in the same movie as her is going to reignite the homewrecker backlash. She should just be happy to get a hit movie and then lay low so that part 2 goes smoothly as well. Hopefully his character dies in this one, idk I haven't watched the musical.

Girl who's Nathan :deadbanana4:

I don't think anybody cares anymore, most of those who hate her weren't going to watch the movie anyway.

she already gave us eternal sunshine and keeps feeding us with beautiful live versions of some of the best songs of her entire career so we're fine :bird:

It depends on what the soundtrack sounds like!  At first I wasn't sure Harlequin was necessary, but once I saw the movie / heard the soundtrack I could see why Gaga wanted to release a more polished and fleshed out version of these songs.  Only having an official soundtrack sung "realistically" by Arthur and Lee would have been such a disappointment for me as a fan.   Harlequin sounds so much better in terms of vocals and production.

I see why Joaquin and Gaga sung more reserved as "regular people" because it fit the movie.   Wicked is so whimsical and magical, I don't know that they will take a dialed back approach with the music like JFAD. I could see Ariana releasing a companion album if the delivery in the film comes off too campy or too broadway to be casually enjoyed by fans.   If she feels she could take the music to another level with a companion album, I'm here for it!   Wicked is a beloved classic.  I think this hypothetical album would click with theater kids on another level (whether it performs well or not).   Always here for new music from talented singers.  :gaygacat5:

Well, she did, but she called it eternal sunshine

No. The Wicked soundtrack is already iconic, so a companion album would be unnecessary and either flop or cannibalize soundtrack sales.
