Popular Post YourNumber1Witch Posted October 8 Popular Post Posted October 8 Okay to be fair there's validity to both parts of it. They're obviously much older than any Taylor Swift association. But the Swifties have definitely had a play in the revitalization of the bracelets in recent years 28 3 2
Popular Post Peak Now Posted October 8 Popular Post Posted October 8 No obviously Taylor didn't invent friendship bracelets but the bracelets became associated with Taylor as part of the cultural impact of the Eras Tour... there's a reason why the Harris campaign was shilling friendship bracelets like 2 minutes after Taylor endorsed her 27 1 1 3 2

Don't be dense and pretend they haven't made a big comeback because of the eras tour we know she didn't invent them, or popularise them originally but they have for sure become big in the last year because of the tour 7 1 1
LoveInStereo Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Arguing over who popularized BEADED BRACELETS.. are y'all not embarrassed? And let it be said. Rave culture with their pacifiers & furry adjacent animal garb is cringe. This whole discourse is stupid af 1 3 1 2
Popular Post Rihinvention Posted October 8 Popular Post Posted October 8 (edited) I've seen so many ravers be genuinely pressed about this. Some of them are using "culture not costume" to describe f***ing candy In their defence, rave candy does have an extensive history, and the success of The Eras Tour doesn't change that. The real Swiftie revisionist history is the fact that in her AOTY speech for '1989', she was offended by "someone else taking credit for YOUR work" and "YOUR fame." Then she confidently changed what she was offended by to, "oh, no…I was offended by the word 'bítch'" when the full phone-call came out I love Taylor to death, but her Grammy speech made it seem like "I made her famous" was what offended her. That's why the great cancellation of 2016 was so impactful. Taylor did an excellent job of rebrand with snake/tabloid imagery, and Tree did an amazing job at spinning the narrative. But her AOTY speech made it VERY obvious that "that bítch" was never the issue. And that's the real tea on Swiftie revisionism Edited October 10 by Rihinvention 1 7 7

Illuminati Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) The point the replies should be making is that Charli's props could have easily been coincidental cause it wasn't even her concept but Lachapelles. But Taylor did make friendship bracelets her brand, in the same way high ponytails existed before Ariana but are associated with her, or literally anything else that makes you immediately think of an artist.
