fridayteenage Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Strongest hit duos for a female album each decade on the Hot 100: 2000s: 37 top 10 weeks, Just Dance/Poker Face (The Fame) 36 We Belong Together/Shake It Off (Emancipation of Mimi) 35 Since U Been Gone/Behind These Hazel Eyes (Breakaway) 2010s: 41 top 10 weeks, Shake It Off/Blank Space (1989) 41 Bodak Yellow/I Like It (Invasion of Privacy) 40 Rolling in the Deep/Someone Like You (21) 2020s: 61 top 10 weeks, Don't Start Now/Levitating (Future Nostalgia) 54 Kill Bill/Snooze (SOS) 41+ Espresso/Please Please Please (Short N Sweet), bumping out sour Big eras these days increasingly focus on 1-2 huge hits, so the numbers keep climbing each decade. Future Nostalgia and Invasion of Privacy didn't even have a 3rd top 10. All of the above won a genre album Grammy so far; wonder how far Sabrina's album will go. 1
chiliam Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Surprise to not see Cali girl/ Teenage dream or Firework/ET on this list. We belong together is the biggest single hit Just dance/Poker face is the biggest dual in the time they released Shake it off/Blank Space vs Rolling/Someone like you is endurance classic dual 1
Nightingale Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) Those Breakaway singles should have gone #1. BTHE being the only single there that didn't even go top 5 and got all those top 10 weeks Edited October 8 by Nightingale
BowWow Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Gaga and Adele in terms of pure memorability and inseparability from a European perspective 2020s still up for grabs but unfair to Olivia that DL and G4u were divided by déjà vue I'm going for sza just because I feel duas weeks are mostly from levitating, DSN was cute but not on the levels of the other decades' songs
MistressKay Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I would imagine Janet would be on there for doesnt really matter/all for you
DevilsRollTheDice Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Legends, classics, etc, etc With that said, using the top 10 as the cut off seems a bit arbitrary here. I'd be curious to see how different the list is for total weeks charted. Only using TS as an example because I know her chart runs, but Teardrops on My Guitar/Our Song would outdo Mariah here using that measure.
Hot Volcano Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I'll never understand Telephone spending just 7 weeks in the top 10. That was her strongest chance of another major 1-2 punch.

Truth Teller Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Is it really a 1-2 punch if they're not consecutive singles? Quote 41 top 10 weeks Bodak Yellow/I Like It (Invasion of Privacy) 61 top 10 weeks, Don't Start Now/Levitating (Future Nostalgia) 1 1
superben Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Adele easily. They were not just hits. They changed the popular music landscape.
UnusualBoy Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Weird Katy is not there when TD had 5#1 hits and at least 3 of the those were HUGE: Cali Gurs + Firework + ET
