Moth 2 The Flame Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Released 10 years ago today (going by the US release date), was Tinashe's debut album Aquarius. This album had widespread acclaim from many music critics upon its release and was led by the hit lead single, 2 On, which peaked at #24 on the Hot 100 charts while the album was a top 20 charting album debuting and peaking at #17 on the Billboard 200. All Hands On Deck was a killer track though with sick music video and choreography! This album is one of my most favourite debut albums from an artist that I could listen from the start to finish without skipping any tracks with its cohesive sound and moody vibes. It's sad that RCA never bothered to issue this album on vinyl for its 10th anniversary, so I made my own custom colored one for my personal record collection. So this thread is to appreciate the 10th anniversary of Tinashe's debut album, list your favourite tracks or share any special memories you have of this album 4 1
Rihinvention Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Bet, Cold Sweat and Far Side Of The Moon >>>> Also this album had real impact. As a Rihanna stan, I'll admit that 'Needed Me' was 100% Tinashe inspired. However the old cover also seemed like it took inspiration from the 'We Found Love' video lmao. I'm glad she changed it. I like the new cover way more anyway.
°ColdFire° Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Bet, Cold Sweat, 2 On, How Many Times, Bated Breath, Wildfire, Feels like Vegas, Thug Cry, Watch Me Work.. the whole album! And a special shutout to Deep in the Night
Moth 2 The Flame Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 Shout out to the two Japan bonus tracks Watch Me Work & Vulnerable which I really liked too. And never forget when someone uploaded the audio of Watch Me Work on youtube and labeled it as Rihanna's Work as a leak, which helped the track to almost chart on the Hot 100 3 1
Melancholy Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Still remember my friend at school telling me to send her the zip to this album that i had downloaded from rnbxclusive.se those were the days

Riverbank Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Imagine having Bet, Bated Breath, Feels Like Vegas & Far Side of the Moon on your debut album
Anthinos Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) Aquarius, How many times and Thug Cry One of her best albums! Edited October 7 by Anthinos
ChooseyLover Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I'm sooooooooo tempted to buy a signed copy which also has the album cover it was always supposed to have... But it doesn't include Watch Me Work, so I'm hesitant.
reymiu Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I know it's a flop (and low-key killed Tinashe's mainstream success) but Pretend is too cute, I still love that song 2
Alex Posted October 7 Posted October 7 what a phenomenal debut album where are my Far Side of the Moon truthers at?

SapphireSky Posted October 7 Posted October 7 This was the first album I ever bought.. where have the years gone 1
Minto Posted October 7 Posted October 7 pretend should've never happened and all hands on deck should've been the official 2nd single, the fact the label dropped it 7 months after pretend flopped to fend for itself….just disgraceful 2
Erotica Posted October 7 Posted October 7 This is my fave Tinashe album by far, I still use it often! Miss that sound for her!
freshoutthebuffet Posted October 7 Posted October 7 2014 was a TIME for music fans Aquarius, Goddess, LP1, Ultraviolence, Broke With Expensive Taste You had to be there 2
SecretSecret Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Still her best album imo, and one of the best debuts ever. She managed to go full-on R&B-pop star while keeping the experimental structures and soundscapes of the mixtapes, finding the perfect balance. You have some of her most commercial songs here (2 On, All Hands On Deck, Wildfire) next to some of her most weird and alternative (those first three songs ) and it works perfectly. Everything just makes sense- it doesn't feel like a collection of songs, it's a listening experience. It's the kind of album that makes a superstar- a rock solid work, and a perfect introduction to the public. Even if it didn't end up being the success they were hoping for, it definitely wasn't Tinashe's fault. She gave her all here.
Rev8 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Paved the way honestly I think she could've been in SZA's place if she debuted around that time let me listen to this classic tho
