elevate Posted October 7 Posted October 7 If you're asking honestly, she is known primarily for her voice, LGBT+ and female empowerment activism, as well as being able to play around (mostly successfully) with different genres. This is sometimes misconstrued as her being ahead of the curve, which isn't really the case. I think people think that because of the Bionic quote, but in that context she was referring to the album as a whole, and it's true that she did introduce a fair number of artists to the "mainstream" with that album. Otherwise, she's mostly known by the GP for her debut days, as well as some tracks from Stripped and B2B, and a few features. Many of today's young(er) artists also credit her work on Stripped as a blueprint for them. In online fandom spaces, she's often targeted by very old stans baselessly. You see this in this thread and other ATRL threads where the usual suspects (except we're missing that Pokemon one; I guess they finally slept) immediately flood her threads long before her actual fans find them. I would suggest they take a page out of Christina's life, because the "flop" they hate is pretty happy, healthy, and minding her business. 5

I liked the Candyman song and she looked stunning in the Hurt video. That's it! A cute hit on her debut? She had 3 #1s on her debut alone, two more #1's followed afterwards and multiple other Top 10's. You can't deny how huge she was until the Back To Basics era and the tour in 2007-2008. Then Keeps Gettin' Better debuting inside the Top 10 due to her name recognition alone. Say Something, a ballad that got streamed over a Billion times and hit the Top 5 on the Hot 100 followed in 2013, peaking in early 2014. That's 15 years AFTER her debut. Winning her last Grammy 15 years after her first one as well, due to Say Something. She has won 7 Grammys (which is difficult to get, some can't even get a single one), her voice is still being adored by millions of fans worldwide and she inspired and continues to inspire many new and upcoming singers. Y'all using the "she hasn't charted in a decade" argument against her when she hasn't even released an English studio album in almost a decade is very telling. Whoever expected her to chart with a Spanish album and Spanish songs is just lying to themselves. Anyways, 1
BrokenMachine Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) Her singing style, the album Stripped, and her being supportive of the LGBT+ community in a time when it wasn't that accepted to do so. Also, setting boundaries to bigots like Eminem Edited October 7 by BrokenMachine 2
