JuanXito Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) Britney's influence and legacy on modern teenage popstars is immense. Miley Cyrus, Tate, Ariana Grande, etc. Literally everyone owes something to her, she's legendary for sure. You have to accept that Britney's legacy is already made and will pass from generation to generation. She has to return to what she loves which is music in her own terms not in that grueling schedule she had, she can do it now Edited October 6 by JuanXito 1 7 2 3

mons†er Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I'm unsure as to what the point this thread was but yes, Britney Spears is the Pop Girl blueprint. Her influence is not just on the next generation but it was also on her peers who would try to one up her or even use her name in their songs for shock value. Honestly, don't think Britney has another album in her at this point. And if she's not genuinely going to be able to make the music she wants to, with her vision and her ideas 100% I don't want it either. Britney's done more than enough and personally, I'd rather her just live her life how she wants. Whether it be releasing an EP about the alphabet or even a full remix & reimagining of her hits and fan favorites with a few duets. 1

Britney has influenced every current popstar in at least one aspect. Not to mention half on her peers as well. Thr whole "respect " thing is pure misogyny and judgement of her complex personal life and life decisions. Mixed with how Hollywood was benefiting from her purely based on her struggles. 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I mean She is Britney Spears, her name alone is more impactful than most ATRL faves entire careers. Idk why people try and act like she isn't the most iconic Pop star since 1998. If She ain't a Legend no one since is. Let's be real. (Taylor is the exception).
CocoPouf Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Everyone denying her impact is delusional, lol. I can post this same sentence to every single popstar this site loves to hate.
TouchinFree Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) 55 minutes ago, sweetkiss said: how did she influence ariana exactly? not fighting just seriously dont understand, you mean baby voice? I don't think influence can strictly be applied to " sounds like" or a certain singing technique and similar sounding songs. For example, Britney has always stated 2 main influences throughout her career, Madonna and Janet. Which we all can see and know to be accurate. But, Britney also has STRONG MJ, Whitney and Mariah influences regardless of how that would sound laughable to the regular pop Stan. Influence may be even related to business structure, Career decisions and purely a previous artist existing and being successful. And the new artist just picks off where the icon has left their mark in the pop scene. A popstar's success could literally be the reason for other popstars' success and i don't know how to explain that. A future example is, Taylor's CURRENT success will mean future success for lots of future popstars. In fact we can already see that happening. But we'll see this heavily in .... 5 to 10 years. Just another quick example, so many artists ran to producers after Baby one more time, oops and Toxic were released and pretty much wanted " Their own baby one more time". This is why Max Martin has had lots of ongoing success. Nobody went to Max and said " I want my own Backsyreet boys song, or an Nsync song" although most of the artists Max has worked with are successful and influential to a certain degree Edited October 6 by TouchinFree
TipToe Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Britney's celebrity and all the drama involving her life overshadowed her career imo but there's no denying that her trajectory in pop music is remarkable. The blueprint she set is kinda dated tho, most pop female acts nowadays are sipping from another sources but they can still learn a thing or two by studying her.

Odette Violet Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) when you think of a pop star, she's the quintessential image that comes to mind. yes she's a legend Edited October 7 by Odette Violet
havewemet Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) It's tough because in her prime she was not given the respect she deserved. And then during the conservatorship they did a lot that took away from her legacy. For example when she won the Video Vanguard Award at MTV - normally the winner does a career spanning medley of their hits. Britney had a 30 second speech that was her introducing a performance by Beyonce. Similarly when Beyonce won the Millenium Award at the Billboard Awards her performance was preceded by a tribute video that featured Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder etc. all talking about her legacy. And the award was presented to her by Michelle Obama. Britney got a voiceover announcement "here she is, the princess of pop." They didn't even announce she was receiving an award and it was given to her off stage so she couldn't make a speech. I don't think there is a single woman making music now who hasn't praised Britney or even referenced her in a video or lyric. In addition to the artists already mentioned Britney has inspired Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Doja Cat, Hilary Duff, Tinashe, Normani, Kim Petras, Tyla, Selena Gomez, Chappell Roan, Ava Max, Billie Eilish, Slayyyter, Rina Sawayama…it's impossible to deny her influence. I saw a lot of Britney motifs during Troye's section of the Sweat tour too. And then you think about the way she set musical trends repeatedly. Gave Max Martin his first number one song and now he was 28. Max called her a 'genius.' She one of the first to work with The Neptunes and help usher in the Virginia Beach era. Was the first mainstream artist to feature dubstep and what would later be come hyperpop. She was at the front of every trend in dance music for almost 20 years. As Justin Tranter said about writing with her "anyone can have a hit or a flash in the pan success by accident. But a decades long career doesn't happen by accident." Britney was huge because the music was so good. She caused every record label to sign their own version of her and then when the backlash started every record label signed their own 'anti-Britney.' I know Britney probably won't return to the music industry and I can't say I blame her. She was treated horribly and taken advantage of and underestimated her entire career. But everyone she ever worked with always spoke highly of her. She's shared the stage/screen/studio with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Steven Tyler, Beyonce, Pink, and Elton John. And the success of Hold Me Closer shows there is still interest in her music. Britney is a legend in every sense of the word. I miss hearing her voice so much and I would love if she one day gave us another album. What I would really love to see her is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Who knows if she'd even bother going to the ceremony but I do think it would be a nice way for the industry to make up for treating her so poorly while she became one of the highest selling female artists of all time.
