glitch Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) Back in 2013, Dua was in an advert for the 10th series of the X-Factor, covering the song Lost in Music. Why she kinda ate here? Edited October 6 by glitch 3 2

Vermouth Posted October 6 Posted October 6 (edited) Saw an interview with her dad once where he went into the background of this a bit. From memory, think he said the production company making the trailer went along to the Sylvia Young theatre school (where Dua was going on Saturday mornings) and auditioned likely candidates for the role of aspiring singer auditioning for X Factor and (surprise, surprise) given they were looking for a photogenic singer she was picked and so she was the one advertising X Factor but never on it. The irony, of course, being she's massively more famous and successful than anyone that was competing on it that year. I suspect too this might've been helpful in getting her signed by TAP management (who then got her signed to Warner about a year later), given she's on record as saying someone offered her a publishing deal which must've been around this time given this must've been filmed in the Summer of 2013, and it was that offer that led her to consult a lawyer who said not to accept it, but then in turn put her in touch with Ben Mawson at TAP and the rest is history . There's also an interview out there on the net somewhere, where Kosovo TV is interviewing her in the middle of London in Albanian about this advert and where the interviewer asks her about Rita Ora ( don't know of the details as it's in Albanian - anyone on here speak it?) - but you can guess the interviewer is asking "would you like to be like her" or something like that. Again the irony! I think this little trailer advert turned out to be very important for her, not that anyone could've predicted that when it was being made. Edited October 6 by Vermouth 2
