Could JFAD's historical flop derail LG7 plans?

LG7 seems to be a response to knowing that Joker 2 was going to be a disaster.

Generally, a side project has little impact on a main project for a pop star. But given that the single is being released in the same month, in the middle of all this bad press, it's really not a good time. I can't imagine that GaGa and her team are thrilled to release a new single under these conditions. The album can still do well, but she may need some help from collabs :celestial5:

That's why DWAS exists, that alone sitting still on top 5 for 5 straight weeks without any promo, without a potential LG7 era single in play yet and without even her own team expecting it to have such success (they literally released that as an off-shot so Bruno could pay some debts) gives Gaga some leeway from all this mess.

No. I only wonder if the reason they slated the album for 2025 was because they expected the movie to be a success and they expected she'd have much more promo to do for the movie which would take up her time and now they're thinking they should have got the album out sooner.

people r so dramatic. Gaga did not write or direct this movie. The panning is due to a bad script or direction. Gaga herself has been praised for her performance.

You can not compare an album to a movie

Critical thinking does not exist on ATRL

I don't know if it's a good idea to release the first single months before the album. Maybe push it back to next year since there is no hype from the movie

Speaking of bad press, there are thousands of viral videos on social media right now linking Beyonce and Jay Z to P. Diddy. I'd worry more about that, tbh. :ahh:

Meanwhile in the real world with Gaga, who is not connected to P. Diddy, no. LG7 and Joker 2 are separate entities. It appears Gaga knew the final cut was **** and that's exactly why she decided to move on from Joker 2 so quickly. Queen always has a plan.

i'd like to say know but idk ?

nobody is singling gaga out as the major reason the movie is tanking and the ones who are aren't gonna be streaming her music anyways

it def killed a lot of hype but it'll still do good for a gaga era in 2024 + she got a smash this year

Beyoncé's album released this year opened with 400k units and garnered a solo #1 single. There's no reason to compare them

Why would it? The film flopped but the GP still likes Gaga and the blame for the panned reviews and underperformance on boxoffice is not on her. Actually, critics and the public are saying how underused she was and how she deserved better than being on it dies.gif

On top of that she has the #1 song in the world rn so if she picks the right single she'll be just fine.

I honestly think DWAS was or maybe because she knew Harlequin and LG7 won't be that commercial sounding…

She's calling Abel and Benito rn

Abel just bombed with his lead single and dropped the collab single 2 quick…. Yet I don't see any threads here about how he's not able to achieve a successful solo single…..interesting  :coffee2:

she still has her fanbase to count on, so even if the lead is a bad song it would do Stupid Love chart run (assuming it's solo)

It's a pop project. She'll be fine. I'd distance the imagery as much as possible from FAD, though. Scrap videos and photoshoots if they are related to the bomb in any way.

I don't think this film's panning has affected Gaga much with the GP. The blame seems to be falling toward the script and director. She needs to get better at picking scripts/directors as the last two movies have damaged her acting reputation (FAD more than Gucci where she was praised as the saving grace). Hollywood will definitely be more tentative picking Gaga for another blockbuster role.

LG7 may flop because Chromatica fizzled out very quickly and it's been 4 years - not because Joker flopped. While DWAS was a surprise, I think it will be a Flowers smashing / ESV flopping situation for LG7. We will have to wait and see.

It's just a shame she wasted so much time and effort on this disaster.

She's on the phone with Sabrina, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny or Taylor Swift as we speak

She'll be okay

Not sure about her music career but her alleged "A-list movie star" career is definitely in tatters after the whole premise of Joker 2 being a musical sequel was confidently sold in large part on the bankability of her name and...let's just say her name is absolutely not delivering

I can't at the « she's flopping on purpose!1!1! » comments :rip:

yes, she spent thousands organizing photoshoots, booking Kimmel, & recording song, with the intent that the album was going to flop :deadbanana4:

Ehh what he said was spot on and neutral. He's right. Side projects don't usually make a difference, but they probably planned to launch this album on the back of Joker. The entire promo and planning was based on the fact Joker would smash.

If we reach November 1st and the lead single hasn't dropped, only then can we say the plans have changed. Until then, she said the lead single will come in October and we're still in October, so the plan remains unchanged.
