Variety: Gaga & Joaquin Phoenix could still contend for Oscars!

Despite the terrible reviews for JFAD , Variety still thinks Gaga could make a push for Best Supporting Actress and Joaquin Phoenix could get nominated for Best Actor.

What do you think? Will JFAD get any acting nominations? How about any other Oscar nominations that the movie could secure? Maybe Best Original Song (Folie A Deux) or Best Score and Cinematography?

I think Gaga's acting has received mostly good reviews from critics so securing a nomination for Best SA could be a good way to salvage the JFAD era for mother monster. Please discuss respectfully!

Joaquin dropping out a film he wrote last minute already pissed off Oscar voters.

No, just let it go. Both can have better chances in the future. :gaycat6:

I mean... their acting wasn't really the issue, was it? :michael:

It wasn't. It's all TOAD's awful decisions, tbh.

Gaga needed it to smash the BO and get into Best Picture to snatch that BSA nom, and both of those things are not happening now. I don't see her pulling an Ana de Armas and getting in because the latter got some raves and hit all precursors. Joaquin is absolutely not getting another nom. It was already an uphill battle to snatch a second nom for a winning role.

They're better off just moving on. Both Joaquin/Gaga will remain unscathed and the wannabe auteur can retire make The Hangover 4 or something.

I hope so. although Gaga spent 50 minutes of the film placed at the back of the trial.:rip:

Is that Clayton Davis?

He is the reason Variety's Oscar predictions are the worst out of all the publications. They are more like a wish list of what he wants to get nommed instead of what will actually get noms and they are more like campaign pieces for the movies/actresses he likes.
I read this more like a puff piece to not get them Razzie nominations instead of a serious prediction.

At this point I don't think either actor wants to be linked to this movie, but it's nice critics continue to recognize that the actors in the film did a great job despite the movie being so bad

If Glenn can get nominated for Hillbilly Elegy, anything is possible.

Highly doubt it.

I think people often forget how prestigious even nominations are. Most of the films that will get noms probably haven't even come out yet.

Theres only 5 spots for each acting category. There will even be snubs from films that actually do well.

Remember what everyone was saying for Charles Melton in May/December this time last year? He didn't even get a nomination in the end…

The closest either will get is Golden Globes nominations. Gaga may get a nomination for Best Song but they'd actually have to campaign. Voters will only see 'LADY GAGA' on the ballot though so it's not entirely out of the question I guess.

This is literally just Clayton Davis fishing for clicks :rip:

Dummy. Y'all know it's not because of her acting, she's amazing and every single critic is saying that. The movie is bad because of Todd. But you atrl clowns will say literally anything just to backlash Gaga. It ain't working, she's always winning because talent always wins.
