We all know that Namie is #1, but who's the second best japanese diva? Miss Utada or Miss Hamasaki?

Utada, of course!

But I am finally getting into Ayu in a big way this year thanks to the Ayu discography rate! :duca:

I like Utada's music but Ayu and Namie make the kind of music I consume on a daily basis. Ayu's catalog is full of hits.

Anyways, Utada.

It's definitely her. No label would just take such a legendary artist's discography off Spotify and lose money for almost a year now. Namie probably just got fed up and had a bad deal when it came to how much she'd get from streaming.

I think Utada is so talented and a great vocalist, but I love how Ayu always reinvents herself with each era. She's also a wonderful songwriter, which people should talk about more.

I'm biased though because I stan Ayu. We love Namie too. Duty and Play are my fave J-Pop albums ever

Love both queens, but Utada is the Queen of Music, so her.

Ayu is far better
Utada is a great artist but her music is very similar to each other. Is all produced by her, so it feels boring ZzZz. Lacks genre diversity.
Listened her two last albums and i was sleepy midway
She's like a taylor swift-adele-bjork type...
Ayumi is far more diverse like a Madonna-Shakira type
Ayumi tours are insane productions and Hikki tours are very meh-basic.
Utada lyrics are also very cringy. Songs like easy breezy im japaneasy. Boku wa kuma......omg no
Utada hikaru was raised in america too. She has that privilege. American audiences helping her with her sales. Ayumi doesnt have that :giraffe:

Ayumi definitely the Nr1.

She has the best selling Japanese album ever. That's just Japanese citizens that made it that in its first year. Lol

Definitely Hikaru. Has a good tone of  voice. Quality of music she released. Her First Love album is a game changer to the Japanese music history.
