blackoutbaby Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM Back in the day, it was nearly impossible to be successful without having good looks that went along with your talent. With the rise of artists like Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, and Post Malone, though, it seems like looks no longer are of any importance. When did looks stop mattering? 1 9 11

Mr.X Posted yesterday at 01:12 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:12 PM Ultimately, yes it is a good thing that nowadays people are more open to people's looks being varied than the disgusting (and plain boring!) of the usual traditional beauty standards. shoganai Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM With Instagram and the Kardashians. Boring, dull and joyless aesthetic (like Kim's house)

Badgalbriel Posted yesterday at 01:16 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:16 PM Hmmmmm. It still very much prominent in the industry. Most pop starts that break into the mainstream world are somehow beautiful. For men, it never really mattered.
Arrows Posted yesterday at 01:29 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:29 PM It's not necessarily important to be good-looking, but it's important that how you look fits with your image and musical identity 1
Strawberry Bubble Posted yesterday at 01:39 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:39 PM the biggest artists in the world are still good looking. But looks never mattered that much for men, anyway.

Triton Posted yesterday at 02:31 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:31 PM When people realized they can put on Halloween costumes in to shock and still be famous. Then it allowed for other changes like plastic surgery/fillers/1 foot heels to feel pretty. But the pressure is still there, they'll never get rid of beauty standards. Orsay Posted yesterday at 02:37 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:37 PM -it never mattered much for men, or nearly as much as it does for women -it still matters, probably more now than in the 80s or 90s, though an obsession with/stress on appearance may have peaked in the early 2000s
