heckinglovato Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Flight tickets leaving Israel are selling out fast despite increasing prices. How are Israelis finding refuge outside Israel so easily/quickly? Edited October 2 by heckinglovato 3 2 2
wastedpotential Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I don't mean to get in the way of your narrative but (according to my 3 minutes of research) every US airline suspended all flights to Israel after 10/7, so there's been a significantly reduced capacity and the only airline flying from Israel to the US is El-Al, and they're only running 7-8 flights per day (4/5 to NY, and then 1 each to LA, Miami, and Boston), down from the 20+ before. There's probably been a surge in ticket purchases over the past week, but I don't think flights between Tel Aviv and New York selling out is a harbinger of anything. Maybe you can provide data showing sold out flights to other places? That would certainly cause me to reconsider. Edited October 2 by wastedpotential 7 1

Thanks for the paragraphs, it seems ticket prices to Krakow and Warsaw have also hiked up recently (several hundreds as opposed to $30-$50), seemingly due to higher demand? 1
LadyFlopga Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Let's ignore the fact that most citizen are Mizrahi Jews 1

Flights to London tomorrow and Friday are also high, but then they're down at the average for the weekend and into next week and beyond. The same seemingly holds for Paris, Berlin, and Moscow. I suppose there might be a mad dash trying to get out asap, but we'll have to see if the trend holds, or if that's just due to A) universally higher prices for last minute tickets, B) the reduction in service to Israel across the board, and C) the disruptions to airspace over the past week or so. 5 3

Oh ok, thanks for the deep dive! I hope those folks will feel safe while taking refuge in places like Warsaw and Moscow, and perhaps feel right at home even. 4
Taylena Posted October 2 Posted October 2 It must be something about (tiny whiskered cute animals) fleeing a sinking ship.
family.guy123 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 What exactly is the Xweeter in the OP "just saying" about fully booked planes headed to New York?
Cyanide Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Wait I thought the Holy Spirit stuck them there?? Don't tell me they have passports to go to Eastern Europe 13
BorderBoy Posted October 2 Posted October 2 About time. They're going back to where they came from simply because most of them have dual citizenships somewhere else and aren't indigenous to the land of Palestine. Now THAT can't be said about the Palestinians. 6 3 1

Dula Peep Posted October 2 Posted October 2 You do realize you're not indigenous to where you live (the US) unless you're Native American, right? ......

Relampago. Posted October 2 Posted October 2 The Usual Suspects hopping in to write about their birthright to a place that isn't theirs while ignoring the question: Why are Israeli people allowed to leave while Lebanese-Americans and Palestinians must remain trapped in a warzone created by nations that they do not belong to? 6

Mizrahi basically refers to Jews from the today predominantly Muslim world. Modern day Iraq, Yemen, Iran. Most were expelled from these countries over time and after the state of Israel was created, 99% fled from persecution or were forcibly relocated (there's a lot of gross history to this - both from the Islamic regimes and right-wing Zionists). And for the Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern Europe -most do not have a home to go to after the Holocaust. Of course the irony is the persecution of Palestinians in Gaza today who are now often left homeless - and the cycle continues thanks to incompetent leadership all over 1

That's why I tell everyone I'm a Palestinian ❤️❤️ living in the USA. If my homeland wasn't occupied by a zionist apartheid state that's a trying to genocide my people, maybe I could return home.
