The album should've just been submitted for the sole Album of the Year category to make a statement, not in country. But if Cowboy Carter gets the Best Country Album nom there'll def be some pressure for voters after her snub at the CMAs. Could work in her favor Its giving "she's getting the genre award like Rennie did for best Dance Album, but not AOTY"
RatGod Posted October 2 Posted October 2 mind you sabrina has a discography larger than most pop girls 1
SoJro101 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I actually love the audacity of Bey submitting her work to country categories. Like stand behind your work! For all the "She should've submitted to ____ category..." conversations, even if she loses all her nominations - contrary to what others have said I don't think the purpose is garnering awards, but more-so about the precedent it sets for black representation in the country music category in general. This important conversation moves forward because Bey isn't afraid to "take that sh*! on the chin". It'll be a tough year regardless, but Cowboy Carter remains one of the best and acclaimed country albums of the year so it's a worthy contender. Edited October 2 by SoJro101 3 2 1
Khal Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) The "breakthrough" rule for BNA is idiotic, and if they're going to stick with it, it should at least have a time limit. So, like you can get BNA on your 2nd or 3rd album breakthrough if it was released within 5 years of your first. It's ridiculous that someone whose 1st album will be 10 years old by the 2025 ceremony is competing for "BNA" Edited October 2 by Khal 2
halcyonday Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I love my "new" artist that I started listening to in 2018. Edited October 2 by halcyonday
Tusk Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Why didn't Gaga win BNA when she switched to jazz? Edited October 2 by Tusk
Assassin Posted October 2 Posted October 2 They should just rename the BNA category as Breakthrough Artist. It's ridiculous that someone who has released six albums in the past decade is gonna be nominated as Best New Artist.

Same for Chappell even though I was listening to Pink Pony Club nonstop in 2020. I'm sure she's eligible this year too, no? Chappell didn't have a debut album yet until 2023 , Sabrina has had 5/6 studio albums

Tm4074 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) She really shouldn't qualify. She has the same number of studio albums as Katy Perry. Tate McRae didn't qualify for BNA this year because she submitted the maximum amount of times but released only 2 albums and her first EP was released in 2020 while Sabrina has 6 albums and debuted in 2014 - a whole decade ago. Makes no sense, the rules need to be changed to reduce category fraud. Reminds me of when Finneas got nominated for BNA after he and Billie swept AOTY, ROTY, and SOTY at the GRAMMYs the year before. The award is losing its meaning with all these fraud-y nominations in the category. Edited October 2 by Tm4074 1 1
Walk_Away21 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I would say this isn't good news for Chappell but luckily she claims to not want success so she probably isn't submitting right? Edited October 2 by Walk_Away21 1

Now we can stop" so if she wins she'll keep going but if she doesn't get her way she'll "stop submitting" like girl come on 1
X~MoviePoP Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Why did she submit to country instead of americana or pop field
shinyshimmery Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) It's honestly kinda degrading for Sabrina to be in the BNA category when her music this year has had a ton of success. It feels like the BNA grammy is a consolation prize for artists who may (or not) win another grammy in the future. Edited October 2 by shinyshimmery

CC might be the first album of hers since 4 to miss out on the genre album category 1 hour ago, CaptainMusic said: Sabrina is not a new artist, that is absolutely ridiculous. Beyoncé will be snubbed from the country categories, they didn't even nominate Kacey's last album and Beyoncé herself made a dumb move saying that it's not a country album so why would they vote for her. She should've submitted to the Americana category. 10 minutes ago, X~MoviePoP said: Why did she submit to country instead of americana or pop field They just stated she submitted the album for the Country category, the album tracks will be very in different genre categories like she did for her previous albums: Lemonade (rnb, pop, rock, country), Renaissance (dance/electronic, pop, rnb), The Gift, I Am… Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé (pop/rnb). We'll probably have something like: Country Solo/Song Texas Hold Em/16 Carriages Country Duo/Group: II Most Wanted/Blackbiird Americana Song/Performance: Ameriican Requiiem/16 Carriages Pop Solo: Texas Hold Em/Bodyguard Pop Duo: II Most Wanted/Levii's Jeans Melodic Rap: My House? Sweet Honey Buckiin? RnB Song/Performance: My House? Tyrant? II Hands II Heaven? Ya Ya? It could go in many ways, maybe even rock song or performance if she stretches it a bit.

schnetzka Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I love Sabrina but she should not be nominated for BNA. She's already had that chance. She broke through with emails i can't send so even if you don't count her first few albums, Short n' Sweet is her second era with more success. 2
SinnerCity Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I love Sabrina, but this is messy, homegirl has been in the industry for over a decade, be for real 1

Cowboy Carter, although not my fav Beyoncé album, deserves a nomination.

jdanton2 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 i think they should have two separate categories one for new artist and one for breakthrough artist .

Now her campaign will begin saying how she didn't have any real control or input until recently so she really is a new artist...
UnusualBoy Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I like Sabrina but the fact that she can be eligible to BNA with 6 albums under her arm
