LoveInStereo Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Saw Sweat Tour twice for Charli & I really did go in with an open mind but while Troye isn't bad by any means, he lacks X factor. I can understand being a fan & he does have some good songs & he's not without his charms. But he def will never be an A list, household name pop act bc he just doesn't have that gravitational pull that true superstars have. And that can't be taught. Random example, I remember seeing Miley on the Best of Both Worlds tour & even as a kid, she was so magnetic & energetic, like she was put on this earth to do this. Charli was always destined to blow up bc she has that drive & insatiable hunger to influence culture with her art. Troye doesn't seem to gaf, honestly ETA: the "self hating"/"homophobia" comments are so played out, jfc. I've given so much detailed critique in numerous threads on this dude, touching on how infrequent his output is, the music being lethargic/unconvincing, that Leland is carrying the writing, etc. but whenever ppl make valid points on his obvious deficits, suddenly y'all can't read. It's 2024. Stop reducing ppl to their sexuality. You can be gay and mid Edited October 1 by LoveInStereo
Rev8 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Yes and ofc the self-hating homosexuals on ATRL will hate on other gays 2
mike_int Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I mean he is not the best singer, not the best dancer, not necessary unique in terms of style or music. I think he is at the place he deserve to be at the moment. Regardless of that, RUSH was my favorite video of last year
SlowGinFizzzz Posted October 1 Posted October 1 He would deserve to be bigger (at the very least for the STGEO era), but I don't think he really wants that anyway. As a fan, I'm honestly not mad that he's still a bit of a niche artist.
KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I personally don't think anything he does artistic wise is spectacular so nah 1

BrokenMachine Posted October 1 Posted October 1 His music is very much for a gay niche, and he's doing fine in there. His sound and lyrics aren't that GP-friendly for him to be a bigger artist right now
kellebrity98 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Troye, when started his career had something new and unique and that is why BN did amazingly, then Bloom was very boring, all the songs on it are bland and now the third one falls flat too. He needs to focus on Something To Give To a Music Listener, something fresh and new, not to mention he lost most of his fan base during Bloom era and without great playlisting or TikTok exposure he's lost. Just look at all the fan accounts or chart accounts, most is abandoned, for a reason. 1
John Slayne Posted October 1 Posted October 1 yes but he's already very successful, just because he's not breaking records doesn't mean he's not popular 1 hour ago, ChooseyLover said: I've always asked myself.. why are gays so hard on or extremely judgmental on other gay artists? I'm not really interested in him, and what I've seen about him hasn't caught my attention, but I wouldn't mind him being more successful than he already is. they do the same with lil nas x, i'm not saying we have to stan every gay artist out there but half of ATRL actively roots against them for no real reason 1 1
ATRL Moderator Juánny Posted October 1 ATRL Moderator Posted October 1 “Homophobia”… He’s one white twink who’s last lead single was basically an oversexualized poppers ad. I have nothing against the guy and I think he has a lot of cute bops, but it’s not homophobic to hold the opinion that the LGBTQ+ community is capable of platforming someone different to the GP who didn’t spend the last two years releasing gay sexual tropes as the central theme of his music. It’s not the type of art for everyone and that’s fine. IMO he’s exactly as popular as he merits. 2

You can't really build a big following in today's music industry releasing an album every 4/5 years. All things considered he's doing pretty well, but I don't see him popping off more than he is right now.
Mikeymoonshine Posted October 1 Posted October 1 He's very good looking and has a few great songs but his albums are always pretty mediocre imo. Plus it's not like he's an amazing singer either he's about as successful as he deserves to be.

Joey307 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I don't know but he's not nearly as attractive as every gay man in my life believes he is
massenlight Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I guess to be celebrated by LGBTQ+ community, you have to be the gay equivalent of Ed Sheeran, singing about marriage or whatever. Otherwise, you are just a walking stereotype, because god forbid you have anything in common with 99% of gay people. As a person who hates hookup culture, dr%gs and etc, Troye would be the last person for me to blame. 1
Orsay Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) he's doing fine and better than 99.9% of people who try to make it in the industry he doesn't seem to have a thirst to be some kind of #1 worldwide megastar, which is respectable tbh Edited October 1 by Orsay
WhateverYouWant Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I like him. The GP has made more basic men with less talent superstars so why not. 1
Ewan Chaos Posted October 1 Posted October 1 He never gave me "massive star" teas or anything. But it does surprise me that songs like My My My and Rush (or even One of your Girls with the video going viral) didn't do as well as it feels they did. So I guess I'd say he's fairly enough rated.
