Coldplay announce final albums

After Coldplay releases its 10th album, "Moon Music," on Oct. 4, the band will only make two more, said frontman Chris Martin.

"We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that's real. Yeah, I promise," Martin said in an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe (via People). "Because less is more and, for some of our critics, even less would be even more! It's really important that we have that limit."

Emphasizing why the band is self-imposing the limit, Martin added, "There's only seven 'Harry Potter' [books]. There's only 12-and-a-half Beatles albums, there's about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes. Also, having that limit means the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it's almost impossible, which is great."

They literally announce their "retirement" every few years :rip: I'm starting to think this is a tactic to sell more tour tickets.

They said it like 5 years ago that the next one would be the last and it never happened.

They haven't released good music since Mylo Xyloto so the sooner the better.

I mean the last time they released a decent album was when Obama secured his first nomination, and even that one was only half decent. They really burnt out by their 4th album and offered nothing interesting since. Should have followed the example of someone with a shorter discography rather than the Beatles

Is the high quality in the room here with us? I love some of their music but let's not act like the quality has been maintained throughout their career....

Meanwhile Willie Nelson is 91 and still making proper albums! He has 153 albums/cds out and his newest one is out November 1, 2024.

This. As an olllld coldplay stan, their quality had drastically gone down since early 2010s

Imagine the lead single rankings in the Gaga base thread if it was Gaga

Yeah, two more albums plus two more tours of about 5 years each, so they are not going anywhere :ahh:

What a stupid reason. :toofunny3: I would make music because I like it not because of what "critics" think.
