Could 143 fare well in the long run?

A lot of the backlash from Woman's World / the singles run seems to have died down, and Katy basically ignoring it in its peak and pushing through with the era, providing a lot of fan content and working hard on promo / videos is only going to work to her advantage. Of course I don't agree with her producer choice, but the album isn't as terrible as people make it out to be, and is obviously fueled by the massive hate she's getting (which she should know better for). It honestly debuted better than I thought it would, and I see actual potential in some tracks getting some attention / moments.

I'm sure people will praise her for doing 2010s music with surface level feminist lyrics in the 2020s. The album would currently be lauded by critics if Luke wasn't involved

Stop trying to make 143 happen!

It's not going to happen!

143 is not Witness. It's not an album with hidden gems that are obscured by bad PR. The music just isn't good, and I say that as a Katycat

She needs to stop flogging a dead horse and move onto the next album. Have it ready to go with the tour next year

I think it'll be forgotten by next week

I love your enthusiasm

The best realistic outcome is for it to be forgotten :dies:

No, it's genuinely bad. Witness has been reevaluated because it has some good songs and people were unfair to Katy because of the hair but this time it's just bad and she gets no goodwill after working with that person.

Yes

It seems to be Katy's Farewell to her pop star career

well no, I'm seeing lots of bragging on Twitter about it getting more pure sales than Smile but that's a terrible thing considering a) there were lots of variants across different mediums and b) it still did 2k fewer units first week

every one of those tweets attempts to play with the numbers to obfuscate things into positivity and the first reply within minutes always tears it up, it's hilarious

I think even a year is enough time for people to look back and realize that this album has soul and wasn't half assed. The quality holds up

it's more enjoyable than Harlequinn for sure so yes

she just needs to release CRUSH and then NIRVANA as singles

Best case scenario people forget about it and she rushes to the studio for a different record next year but that's 100% not going to happen.

farewell in the charts rather than fare well :ryan3:

If I was Katy… I'd wrap up promo on the record quickly and then invest all my efforts into suprise dropping a truly exceptional pop album.

It needs to be her folklore moment… but be in the vein of something like Carly's EMOTION.
