Will Harlequin outpeak 143 in the US ?

Yes, AND

Recommended Posts

In the last hours, music fans have been shocked by two key events, Katy Perrys 143 debuting at 6 on Billboard with almost 50k units  (haters were expecting JLO to outpeak) and Lady Gaga's Harlequin (companion soundtrack to upcoming blockbuster Joker 2) plummeting in streams by 48 percent on Day 2, a shocking development.

Katycats have been delighted with the news while Liddos have been scrambling to label Harlequin as a "side project of irrelevant jazz covers" although their predictions for streams indicated they expected it to be FAR more successful.

So now, that brings us to the main questions. Will Harlequin outpeak 143 on Billboard and which album from these peers will suffer the biggest second week drop.

Have those people who have said that solo Katy and Gaga are in the same boat, been right all this time ?

a lot of these predictions were made when it was first announced and was still a secret project. it didn't become clear that it would be a jazz cover album until the day it was released. don't you think that would've changed some of the expectations if that was known beforehand?

As it has been pointed out no one knows the genre until play is pressed. Liddos knew from the start and were very quick to point out that this WaS Not LG7!

The fact that nobody knew what it was or what it sounded like yet nobody bothered to stream says a lot.

No one is happy, nothing is really shocking.
who expects "gaga" and "success" to go hand in hand in 2024?
she literally has had a solo success when Obama was in Office.

Gaga is doing FINE with her Collabs.
Katy is doing FINE with the new album, tour and perfs.

enjoy the music!

So it was an upcoming blockbuster but not because of Gaga and Harlequin was supposed to smash on the basis of the movie's success but now that her companion album to the potential box office flop is flopping it's because of Gaga and not because of the interest in the movie even though the interest of the movie was what should've been the driving force behind the success of the album? Gotcha.

So it's "because of Gaga" when it's a flop but not when it's a hit.

she literally has had a solo success when Trump and Biden were in Office with Bloody Mary and Always Remember Us This Way.

Gaga is doing FINE with her solo POP songs and Collabs.
Katy is FLOPPING with the new album, tour and perfs.

Yes, we fixed it and we agree.

Girl this was supposed to be Katy Perry's comeback and she's a GP joke. The GP doesn't even know Harlequin

Harlequin has the timeless energy... it will become popular with the passage of time and people will still stream it years from now. Cant say the same for Katherine.

No, but physical units heavily saved 143 for a massive bomb.

Surely youre not tying to drag Katy for having the ability to SELL physical units to consumers in the third decade of her career ?

Probably not, but that's not saying much considering one is a jazzy covers album and one is a mainstream pop comeback with pre-release singles and loads more promotion (and no don't try it with movie promotion!1!1!1!1 Be serious).

LG7 most likely will though, and that's what matters.

Gaga's first side project attempt at a jazz album went number #1, so I don't see how she wouldn't since she is just as if not more relevant than she was a decade ago.

This sounds like these physical units increased the numbers to 80-100k. It wasn't that much, calm down.

because it's streaming era and jazz is dead genre, and Chromatica did 280K first week more than Witness, Smile, 143 combined.. what's not clicking?

It went from 8k to 46k, the 2nd week drop is going to be embarrassing
