Barovi Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Lately many pop girls are becoming so unlikable like Shakira, JLO, Katy, Selena, Britney and Chappel. My question is have they always been insufferable and were just seeing their true-selves? My fave is Shakira and she's gone from Latin America's queen to tax dodging, critiquing Barbie and is seen as selfish for not sharing the stage with her fellow peers. Where have the PR teams gone? 1 2
glitch Posted September 28 Posted September 28 They always have been. We still remember "dis my seat" 1
perfect blue Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Notice that their male counterparts experiencing this level of backlash are literal rapists and sex traffickers. 13 1
Rotunda Posted September 28 Posted September 28 They're either telling people things nobody wants to hear or being silent while the world burns. 1
Lady Claire Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Lack of self awareness and a PR team during an era when information goes around very quickly. Not saying they're insufferable but the most popular girls like Taylor, Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna and etc barely posts on their social media if not to promote something these days. They're aware that anything can become a conversation now and how they can face backlash for anything. Still, it's very hard for female artists anyways because they get dragged for anything and needs to be very careful with their images while male artists get away with literally anything that it's far worse 4 1
mike_int Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) Maybe just this snowflake generation is getting too sensitive and not occupied enough in their real life so they are nitpicking every single thing celebrities are doing as it was their personal concern In with one ear and out with another. selena_lavigne Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Girl when i open my laptop and all the characters i've been developing start having conversations with each other and y'all look like clowns, then we'll talk. I just wish i had like a super human sex robot that would drill my hole while i type it into my phone. 1 8
dumbsparce Posted September 28 Posted September 28 The new girls grew up with social media at the palm of their hands. It's all downhill from there.
Devin Posted September 28 Posted September 28 each one of them is problematic in their own way. stans/society just pick and choose who they wanna tolerate.
Rev8 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Shakira? She had some controversies, but not enough to be considered insufferable? JLo? She has been insufferable for a long time seeing how people have dragged her for years.. Katy? Some of yall just realize it now. She has always shown signs of being that way (with attacking other pop stars for example) Selena? Also, as above. Britney? Healing from a decade-long trauma will probably cause u to act this way. Chappel? She just came onto the scene. We are yet to learn about her. 1
ZacXCX Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I hate to sound like an old hag, but you could make this case for any time period. Madonna was shady as hell (and I love her btw), Rih literally used to drag everyone on Twitter (again, I love her, but good luck booking that stage you speak of) and Katy's Twitter also used to be unhinged (@ her tweets at Sky Ferreira). It's just that we're too hyper-aware and parasocial relationships are at an all-time high. If you only see it as entertainment and remember that you don't know any of these people personally, it truly isn't that deep. 3 minutes ago, selena_lavigne said: Girl when i open my laptop and all the characters i've been developing start having conversations with each other and y'all look like clowns, then we'll talk. BorderBoy Posted September 28 Posted September 28 The same goes for every other celebrity out there because a lot of them showed their true colors being silent on issues that matter like the genocide in Palestine and other important issues. And tbqfh, people need to stop idolizing celebrities.
aotwbys Posted September 28 Posted September 28 It's like once they get famous, they forget how to be normal people lol. It's not new but lately a lot are SO incredibly out of touch with their fans and the general public
KillingYourCareer Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Celebrities are just detached from the world. They say things nobody wants to hear all the time, thinking it's somehow useful.
BrokenMachine Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Male celebrities can literally commit crimes and remain accepted by the GP, but God forbid a woman share their own personal opinion because they're 'insufferable' 2
gab00 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 The new girlies dont know when to shut up. As for shakira I think she has always been a phony don't know why youre surprised tbh.
