idk if this "Australian oomf" is real or not, but if so they lied to you several times. literally a 100k capacity stadium (the same venue Taylor booked for her Eras tour that earned her the highest single-show attendance record of her career) + televised to millions of Australian homes who literally plan entire AFL parties for the footy finals. i'm guessing your oomf was an NRL fan

The AFL grand final is the most viewed event in the country for the year, and in my state we even get a public holiday for it, so it's a big deal for many Australians.

 

I would agree that historically it's not known for having big headliners performing like the Superbowl though, they're usually Australian artists or artists who haven't seen success for a while. Doesn't change the audience reach though.
