KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) Especially when it had these pop classics on it? Like come on now. The album might not be the best thing this planet has to offer but Pitchfork giving it a 2.0/10 is just nasty work. Edited September 26 by KatyPrismSpirit
KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 Like when I see these outlandishly poor scored albums (a la 143), I truly wonder if people genuinely think it's that bad or if they are just trolling because they're easy targets lolz 2 2
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 The same reason why they gave Miley Cyrus & Her Best Album a 3.0. They're repulsive and hate strong bisexual female vocalists. 6

Mikeymoonshine Posted September 26 Posted September 26 This is just how pop girls were treated before poptimism. A few managed to get ok reviews but critics would be especially harsh if the album wasn't super strong and or they found the artist to be at all manufactured. Read some of the weaker reviews for this album there's a bunch of stuff about her image and comparing her to other artists. It was more difficult for women to be respected in music back then. It doesn't helt that Who You Are is an average pop album, it's not a 2/10 though.
SlowGinFizzzz Posted September 26 Posted September 26 And yet Price Tag remains on heavy rotation at my go-to kebab place until this very day, so who really won in the end? 4
ONOPKA Posted September 26 Posted September 26 because it deserved a 2.0 seriously. do it like a dude is one of the worst pop songs of all time 3 2
Bloodflowers. Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I mean... have you heard album tracks? A bunch of fillers whewww But singles were 10/10 masterpieces, so they could've given a 6/10 due to strong singles attached

Like really compare pop albums 2017 onwards to the early 2010s era, sounds are so much richer now, songwriting is so much better. We got bops back then but it really was machine generated music.
Mornings Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm sure the review explains the score from the authors perspective 2
mons†er Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Because everything from Jessie J sounds like a demo. Outside of 'Abracadabra' and 'Domino', the album falls really flat and anyone could've sang those songs. JJ was also only 22 and pop music at the time was more fun while critics were being unnecessarily critical.

makeawish Posted September 26 Posted September 26 i mean, jessie j sucks but they'd give her a 5 these days
MonsterTown Posted September 26 Posted September 26 nlg i did bop the hits at that time...now i am like.. okay kidz bops. maybe the i am feeling sexy and free its the new sexy confident so inteligent.
Domination Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Genuinely shocking to listen to these songs now considering the affectation she sings with.
