RihannaLoverrr Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Good response, hope the era picks up for her! I've loved everything she's released this era so far, looking forward to the album
Sugar-Rush Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm not sure I agree with the implication that you need TikTok to score a hit single, but I admire her self-awareness
BrattyBottom Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Yeah, I get her. It's clear nothing is sticking this era.
ontherocks Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I hope the fascination and joy she felt watching somebody else's career dissolving in front of her own eyes, is still the same same for her own one. 5 1 5
dumbsparce Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I like the transparency but her recent songs are just not hit material. They lack the hooks the HFK singles or even the Manic singles had and she's too big to have a slow burning alt hit moment. I'm not sure if she herself cares about hits though. She probably just wants to please her label and is worried about getting dropped.
chiliam Posted September 26 Posted September 26 its a shame that those songs didnt do anything on the chart. Love all of those except The End. They deserve to be moderate hits
rivingtonrebel Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Well I always thought of the reason that she is underperfoming even while the music is stellar was because of the lack of promo for this era. It's kind of sad to see it and I hope this era works out for her.
Dolce Vita Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) i think halsey is one of those artists that are incredibly versatile and has an artistic vision but are pressured by the label to recapture the sound that brought them success in the first place. if capitol was smart they'd see the potential there and should let her pull a charli by consistently dropping solid music that aligns with her artistry; she'll eventually grow a bigger following of fans which brings more consistent success, which is better than flaky GP oriented success Edited September 26 by Dolce Vita 1 2

After losing millions of Dollars, they dropped her.
crymelanie Posted September 26 Posted September 26 If nothing is sticking and makes her sad then her music exists which is why she should happy because its qualitea lately
punisher Posted September 26 Posted September 26 just keep dropping quality albums sis! it will figure itself out

Yakult Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) 2 hours ago, Saintlor said: I never understand people's labelling of music Charli's music is viewed as cool and edgy and not mainstream but people would view it as dated or uncool if practically any other pop girl sung it A lot of how music is viewed is heavily based on marketing even if people don't want to admit that. The way an artist acts and presents themselves and their marketing is way more influential on people than the actual quality of a song While marketing and radio/streaming service support play a big role into what blows up, what you've said about Charli's music isn't true. From Vroom Vroom, to Pop 2 and How I'm Feeling Now, Charli has built a dedicated fanbase by consistently pushing the boundaries of pop music & staying ahead of the curve. Sure she has the occasional radio pandering single (Boys, 1999), but she hasn't built a fanbase by making generic, basic music. It's viewed as dated/uncool when ex-Fifth Harmony members do it because they haven't put the work in/shown the community love in the past and are playing catchup. Halsey has been straddling the mainstream and more artistic endeavours for a while now. It's a tough line to walk and it doesn't always work commercially (it didn't always for Charli either!). Plus Halsey has a chip on her shoulder and it's come across as try-hard in interviews unfortunately. She's not the top priority artist at her label anymore…….that combined with evidence that a lot of success is timing/luck based with TikTok right now and it's understandable why nothing has taken off. Single success is more unpredictable than ever now, epically with old songs clogging up the streaming charts & the Christmas freeze taking up 2/3 months of the year. I hope the album connects when it drops though. Her last one was great and the singles have all been good to great so far. Edited September 26 by Yakult
Bussea Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Lonely is The Muse deserved to be the biggest hit of the year and i'm not even exaggerating. 4

Hopefully the album is as good as the last one and it will keep the fans very happy and she can hopefully get peace in that Well, unfortunately it's her job, and if she doesn't bring the money, they may not keep her. I think a lot of us forget that

artc0cx Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Sad, her previous two albums were great, im still streaming her last one every week, this one sounds good as well hopefully it will do decent numbers
Happylittlepunk Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I like Halsey I think she gets unfairly judged by people and imo I feel like she the type of artist who should be focusing on delivering quality albums anyway instead of commercial success.
Bloodflowers. Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I liked the singles so I am looking forward to the album The singles have rather slow burn feel to me rather than instant smash So she should just focus on her vision for the album and let music speak for itself She might not get another Closer sized hit, but she might re-gain her Bandaids type of fanbase driven success that she lost 1

Innocencelost Posted September 26 Posted September 26 maybe she should have thought about it before releasing a useless Britney Spears cover as a single
Ponzi Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Keep doing your own thing, mama the singles have been great/really cute.
