Has she spoken out against her republican uncle state representative? The one who voted against LGBT and abortion policies?

Bu-bu-but!!!!  :dies:

Let me quote you the Guardian article this controversy came from since you clearly didn't read it.

Quote

For every UK tour ticket sold, £1 goes to the LGBTQ+ rights charity Kaleidoscope Trust, and at the merch stand in Manchester there are signed risograph prints selling for £100, with proceeds going towards aid for Palestine. Wearing charity shop costumes, fans Kenza and Freya say they admire Roan's values: "She's probably the only artist that's really standing up for things that no one else is wanting to talk about."

Of the prints, Roan says very carefully: "It's just my duty to help send resources to a community that is absolutely being destroyed." And even though Kamala Harris used her deliriously goofy Femininomenon in a campaign video ("What we really need is a femininomenon!") and seemingly copied the design of an official Roan baseball cap, Roan hasn't endorsed her. And, in June, while dressed as Lady Liberty, Roan told the crowd at Governor's Ball festival in New York that she had declined an invitation to perform at a White House Pride event: "We want liberty, justice and freedom for all. When you do that, that's when I'll come."

"I have so many issues with our government in every way," she says. "There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don't feel pressured to endorse someone. There's problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote – vote small, vote for what's going on in your city." The change she wants to see in the US in this election year, she says instantly, is "trans rights. They cannot have cis people making decisions for trans people, period."

She was asked about donating money to Palestine and rejecting an invitation to the White House because she doesn't want to be supporting a govt funding a genocide.

I'm sure if she were asked about her uncle she would voice her concerns as she … fairly clearly cares about abortion and LGBT rights..? Considering she donates money to these causes? Unless - are you are being purposefully dense and think she is a secret Republican?

Do you have any conservative family members you would like to publicly denounce on ATRL.net?

Babe you gave the example of one's small town and using your voice about it.

Yes I've read that article lol. Her answers were great. I hope she continues to speak out in that way and put the haters to shame. And no, of course I don't think she's a republican. Sometimes a question is just a question, I'm curious if she had previously addressed it (your whole idea of liberals and their hometown reminded me of it) or if it's a new development.

The hate feels so forced. She's very opinionated but at least she's using her voice. I guess it pisses fans off when they hear something uncomfortable.

Using her voice for WHAT? Not endorsing Kamala is endorsing Trump at this point. There's no room for anything that's not voting for Kamala. Her comments on this just makes everything more divisive.

Someone needs to tell her we aren't interested in listening to her talk, just her music…

It seems that the general public is over Mrs. Roan's antics.

The problem is, her words echo a growing movement of Democrats threatening to withhold their vote from Harris if she won't publicly and explicitly support Palestine, trans rights, etc.

It's confusing and unhelpful to say "we must stop Trump" / "**** Trump" and in the same breath refuse to throw your support behind the only person standing in the way of Trump. A non-zero number of young voters will hear her and withhold their vote in November.

The world isn't black and white. No one candidate is going to represent all of your views. Throw your support behind the candidate who you align with the closest, and also continue to fight, protest, push for the causes you believe in. You can do both, I promise.

I found her annoying at first, but the more she talks, the more I like her. :deadbanana:
