X-Dre Posted September 25 Posted September 25 There is a misconception that female singers naturally lose their voices as they age. Why? There have been 2 major cases that may have created this idea: 1. Whitney Houston, was considered one of the best singers, but drugs destroyed her vocal cords. 2. Mariah Carey, another top vocalist, because of her nodules and (let's be honest - her live style) wine and lack of rest. So it doesn't make sense to expect Christina NOT to sing well! Ariana, Demi, and Miley will still be amazing singers when they reach Christina's age. Look at Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Celine Dion. They all kept their powerful voices! So I believe that Mariah and Whitney's cases created this misconception. Opinions? 3 6

Big Bad Wolf Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Yeah, Christina still sounds really good, her vocals are perfection 1
ImpressMeMuch Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Weird energy in this OP, you clearly just wanted to drag a dead woman and Mariah Carey Let's just focus on being happy for Christina. People are also surprised by her voice lately because she's being less harsh with it. Those 25 year covers were gorgeous compared to what she was doing in the early 10s (in a lot of cases, ik she has always been able to sing beautifully so no need to provide videos lol). 8 3
ChooseyLover Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) It is impressive because the haters keep saying how horrible she is from a technique standpoint, yet her voice sounds as strong and healthy as ever. It's a matter of taste if you like her voice or not but I absolutely love it and I'm glad she's taking such good care of it. I've seen her Vegas Dressing Room tour video and you can tell she's into a very healthy lifestyle and she takes vocal health very seriously. Edited September 25 by ChooseyLover 1 2

Yeah, from the voice to the skin to the body to the lube (not even being facetious with that last one) she really exudes mental and physical health!
nostalgic Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Xtina haters have nothing on her - weak drags about her voice, rumors from the Bush administration, ozempic jokes. They'll always be scraping the bottom of the delusional barrel to tear her down. 8 1

We really gotta give it to her. I wish many of my other favourite artists treasured their instrument like that.
QueenB Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Lotus era vocals were very hit or miss, but it looks like she drank some fountain of youth and her vocals are sounding stronger than ever

Erreur2 La Nature Posted September 25 Posted September 25 You could have simply praised your fave's screams without bashing Whitney and Mariah 1

J Legend X Posted September 25 Posted September 25 gurl.. she is my fave and she was sounding rough through the entire bionic and lotus era… like vocally she was not as amazing as lately
XAMJ Posted September 25 Posted September 25 a new vocal peak is happening before our eyes. xtina currently going viral on social platforms for her voice 25 years later and universal praise is really sending some fanbases into a spiral legend x
Kimi Posted September 25 Posted September 25 cause lots of old legends didn't know how to take care of their voices and lost them. 1
Xtripped Posted September 25 Posted September 25 After the horrible Lotus vocals, these new vocals are amazing! Obviously she's been training a lot since pandemic. Mulan OST era, Vegas residency and this has been on point. 1
XDNA Posted September 25 Posted September 25 There have been many high-profile singers who lost or damaged their voices. Look at Shania, Julie Andrews, Adele, Steven Tyler etc.. There's more examples if you look.
BionicWooHoo Posted September 26 Posted September 26 You know for so many years I've seen so many people be like "oh Im actually like educated in vocal coaching or blah blah blah" being like oh she has bad technique blah blah blah. Oh? Why are those folks so quiet now
LikeATattoo Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) This is intellectually dishonest because it implies that Xtina's voice has been perpetually solid throughout her career, when in actuality, it never even had an established prime because it could never go up to a full year without breaking down like an old car. Xtina is simply experiencing a momentary vocal high point after 15 years of sounding like the demonic underworld LOL. Truthfully, she hasn't boasted a modicum of vocal consistency since the Bush administration. Xtina's voice presently sounds healthier than at any point in her 30s, and I love that for her. But the fact that her stans feel the unshakeable need to lie about her vocal trajectory (whilst trying to dunk on drastically superior talents in Whitney and Mariah) highlights not only insecurity in their fave's ability, but a glaring dissatisfaction with her overall legacy. As an aside, those duets with Sabrina aren't going viral because of "shock" at Xtina's voice being solid in 2024; they're going viral because Xtina has spent the past 18 years in PSP (Pop Star Purgatory) and the GP genuinely forgot that she even existed. I couldn't have said it any better. Fighters have always been this insecure about their fave, even when she's one of the most talented divas out there. 1

It is genuinely astounding Xtina finally goes viral for something positive, and how do her loose-holed stans react? By hopping on here to denigrate other artists in her favour. And not just "other" artists, but ones to whom their fave (per her own admission) owes her entire career. Artists who she modelled her craft after. Artists who she, objectively, isn't even a billionth as important as. It's a shame, really. Xtina has grown up, mellowed out, and shown contentment with her career. Contrarily, her stans remain angry about heights that they feel she should've reached smh. Very sad. Edited September 29 by LikeATattoo 1
