Smarticle Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Didn't they already go hard on Love For Sale? Wrdgaf
Stunnah Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Yes, I think so, and there will be a double feature if the movie bombs so bad Warner has to sell Daffy Duck to the Chinese. Hope that helps!
Sugar-Rush Posted September 25 Posted September 25 This is ATRL where folks drag anything for fun, so... But unless it debuts with less numbers or a lower MC score than 143, I'd better not see any Kats getting brave

The Gift is just Jay Z and Beyonce bragging about being rich and famous. Oh, really? How about I make it easy and bold and underline anything that aligns to what you said BIGGER—about shared ancestry, about being a speck in the scope of history, about growing into your destiny FIND YOUR WAY BACK—about parental guidance and wisdom DON'T JEALOUS ME (Tekno, Yemi Blade, Mr. Eazi, Lord African)—about not paying attention to haters JA ARA E (Burna Boy)—about fulfilling responsibilities NILE (feat. Kendrick Lamar)—about dealing with struggles and coming back out of them MOOD 4 EVA (feat. Jay-Z)—about being grateful and basking in all your blessings and what you've achieved, including riches WATER (feat. Salatiel, Pharrell)—about falling in love BROWN SKIN GIRL (feat. Blue Ivy)—about loving one's brown skin KEYS TO THE KINGDOOM (Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi)—a motivational song about presevering ALREADY (feat. Shatta Wale, Major Lazer)—about accepting and enacting your destiny OTHERSIDE—about being reunited with loved ones in death MY POWER (feat. Tierra Whack, Moonchild Sanely, Nina, DJ Lag, Yemi Alade, Busiswa)—about female empowerment, and fighting for yourself/others SCAR (080 Shake, Jessie Reyes)—about regretting your mistakes SPIRIT—motivational song encapsulating much of the above: ancestors, destiny, purpose So even if we round up, that's 1/14 songs which amounts to 93% of the album being not "just Jay Z and Beyoncé bragging about being rich and famous". Funnyfatty Posted September 25 Posted September 25 the gift was a good album by Beyonce which is the only thing that matters to me because i would never expect her to smash with that. i hope Harlequin will also be a good album and i know that Gaga can deliver quality 1
swissman Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) It's good for Harlequin that she's releasing it before the OST is out. I think that The Gift's main issue with debuting was that it came after the OST which also confusingly had Spirit as its lead single. Edited September 25 by swissman 1
By the Water Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Probably not. Back then Beyoncé's solo releases she was coming from were successful so people saw the opportunity to drag and took it. With Gaga she is coming from a string of flop studio albums with likely another one right around the corner 3 3
BrokenMachine Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Love For Sale already happened. There's your answer

PrettyHurts Posted September 25 Posted September 25 they won't drag it as hard because the liddos on here are unhinged 3
Rafael Posted September 25 Posted September 25 It won't be dragged as hard because Liddos run this site unfortunately But the fact is that The Gift is a brilliant album, aclaimed (not as much as her studio albums but still) and it opened with 54K being a digital release only and being release even after the official soundtrack for the movie. People were confused as hell because she's allergic to communication obviously Harlequin already has the advantage of physicals which will help it's long term run. 4
Rafael Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Also, I see monsters calling this a "surprise release" as if she's being brave to do it . Yall don't know what a true surprise release is 3 1 1 1 1

I still remember being SHOCKED that my friend who stays up to date with pop culture didn't know she had released the album even months (or perhaps weeks, I forget the timeline) later. For anyone who wasn't a fan or locked into pop music (like an ATRL-er) it was pretty unclear that she did that with the dual lead single being used for both the OST and TG.
BrattyBottom Posted September 25 Posted September 25 My brothers and sisters in Christ, save all of this hate for Pink Friday 3
homosexual_behaviour Posted September 25 Posted September 25 this place is overrun with liddos now so probably not 1
Acidus Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I enjoyed The Gift as an exploration of a genre I'd have never discovered otherwise and I'll enjoy Harlequin as well since I've never heard any of the songs it covers
Shelter Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I might drag it, it depends if I'm a fan of Gaga on that day. It seems Gaga is actually going to promote hers, so we will see.
