We have Sabrina, Taylor, Billie, Charli, Lana, Ariana, Chappell, Rosalia, Tate, Dua which are very successful pop female artists. Sabrina made pop music videos fun to watch again and theres hype for her music videos.  The top 10 Spotify US have 8 pop female songs in it and Gaga is back stronger than ever and theres so much hype for her next album ! Is pop stronger than ever this year ? Is 2024, the come back of Pop Music ?

Yes. I'd argue is has been dominating most of the 2020s but 2024 is pops biggest year this decade, especially for women in pop music.

then go listen to california gurls if you like it, to each their own.

I don't listen to Katy Perry, not even in 2010, but that year had the Teenage Dream, LOUD, The Fame Monster, Pink Friday, Animal and Speak Now era's all going on

And the year after that came 21, Born This Way, Talk That Talk, Femme Fatale and 4. The girls were going insane

Nope.

2010 and 2011 were peak MPG eras. To an extent, ATRL too, because SYG was still around so they can drag to their hearts content with each artists' stats.  :fan:

Since 2010/2011, yes.

Ohhh absolutely. Anyone saying otherwise is stuck in their bubble, no offence. Have you seen the songs of the summer? It's no more as trap-dominated as it was.

Billboard's 2024 Global Songs of the Summer : r/popculturechat

Two of the songs in the top three are pop. It's truly the year of pop. I'd say country too but that's a mainly US phenomenon. Nobody outside the US is consuming 'I Had Some Help' and that Shaboozey songs like Americans. :rip: Besides that, it's been such an exciting year for music. 2020 was another fantastic year for pop music and I thought it was the best of what the decade offered so far, but 2024 has taken the throne IMO. It's so great to see so many MPGs smash the game:

-Sabrina Carpenter has three pure pop songs charting in the top 10

-Billie Eilish's most pop hit over 1 billion streams in under 20 weeks and is serving stabilliety on the charts

-Ariana returned with her most pop album since DW and the pop-ballad, WCBF? is multiplatinum-certified.

- Chappell Roan is competing for the top spot of the charts with a sappy 80s-inspired synth indie pop anthem and her album's stability on the BB top 200 is incredible

- Two pop icons, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars are enjoying the biggest hit of the month with the pop-rock 'Die With A Smile' which has earned 22 days of 10 million daily streams

- Other massive pop hits right now are Losing Control and Beautiful Things, the latter being almost inescapable. It's not what ATRL cares about but yea, they are pop songs and smashing so the more, the merrier :bird:

- Charli XcX earned her most commercially successful and culturally relevant effort with 'Brat', which took over social media at one point in time and the green colour has become iconic concerning Brat.

- Taylor Swift, pop's biggest artist has the highest-grossing tour of all time

Commercially, pop music is very much back. Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Charli XcX have all been the major headliners of its resurgence. Even in terms of quality, pop music is so good right now. I mean Brat came out this year and it is the most acclaimed pop album of all time. There have been so many great pop records put out this year. Has anyone listened to Magdalena Bay's recent album? It's pop brilliance and is being raved about all over the music community, forget pop fans.

I just know 2025 is going to be DRY though since everyone will be touring or working on new music, unless older MPGs take over the spot of the current MPGs while they r touring :deadvision:

All the country ones are there because the stats are inclusive of US stats

Also, the convo is about pop in general rather than MPGs?

Globally sure.

In the US not really. It's country music's year.
