People are tired of the 80s shtick and he's been overexposed. He needs to do a new sound or go back to his older one.

A few reasons, but mainly it's just not a great song. It sounds like 5 of his other songs he has released in the last 5 years. I would hope that in a trilogy, I would be able to put all songs on shuffle and almost instantly know which album it belonged to. This song could easily be on After Hours or Dawn FM.

the public are tired of him

I love him but the song is pretty mid for his standards. As people said before, I need something new or at least going back to his roots rather than releasing these stale 80s inspired tracks. If the entire album is like this... it won't work in his favour :skull:

I feel like his past mainstream success has sort of made him "uncool" to be a big fan of, like it does with any artist.  Taylor Swift stays afloat because she has such a large and dedicated fanbase.  The Weeknd has fans of course, but not like that, so if the music isn't stellar to the GP, there's no reason for it to smash by default.

Boring song.

His music is a lot more popular than he himself is as an artist. You'd think an artist with his resume would have enough pull to be challenging for #1 debuts with mediocre material... but he isn't the force that he thinks he is.

"Popular" is still getting 1M streams a day.  THAT'S the sound he should've went with.

yea but if this song was uptempo, it would be a different story.

Not everything he releases will smash but he is still doing fine, huge daily streams and he's had 3 big songs in the past year…

This thread has been made 3-4 times already.

Abel really has you all pressed for absolutely no reason, he's not competing against the pop girls :deadbanana4:

We're all waiting for him to drop São Paulo with Anitta

he needs to get back to his RnB sound, thats what people want. These dance songs are not boping like they used to

I personally like the song but yes, we are tired of the synthpop/car themed/vegas-esque material that he's given for many years now. there's virtually no evolution from his recent albums (which isn't surprising since it is a trilogy)

His sound is getting tired.

He's been releasing the same song and video for the last 4 years.

Guess he's the Lionel Ritchie of his generation.

A couple of mega-eras and then the world just randomly moves on without warning.

the dramatics :toofunny3:

like @spree said Popular is still doing good numbers so it's not like he has been "hitless" for a long time or whatever

the GP said no to this song but he can bounce back
