Lagerfeld Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I feel like from Joanne to Chromatica, she floated her way through these eras. With ARTPOP, she alienated the GP, with Joanne she alienated her stans (Joanne is her worst album), and I feel that her heart wasn't fully in making Chromatica either. However! I do think that ASIB was a project that she was passionate about, and soon LG7. I think that LG7 will capture the magic of BTW again. We are seeing Rah-Rah fashions back and the snippets sound promising. What do we believe? 3 2 21

Album Leak Posted September 22 Posted September 22 How did she get away with it exactly? You said it yourself, her audience became smaller each '' mid '' release. 1
Lagerfeld Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 Just now, Album Leak said: How did she get away with it exactly? You said it yourself, her audience became smaller each '' mid '' release. But it's bigger again now with Die with a Smile. I feel like making Chromatica for her was like a Grindr hook-up. At first, you might be excited about it, but then midway you're just like "Why am I here"? 3
Strawberry Bubble Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Yes, but *insert generic comment hating on Katy Perry*
Sugar-Rush Posted September 22 Posted September 22 "Got away with it" when she suffered a lot of backlash for ARTPOP in particular? And her stans in general typically consider Joanne to be her weakest LP? 1
Almighty Gaga Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I love how you tried for 2 paragraphs to make a point, then just gave up at the end with a "what do we believe" nonsense 1
Paddy Posted September 22 Posted September 22 ARTPOP was a complete mess musically, visually, and overall a messy era. Woth Joanne she was trying to do a complete do-over and show that instead of having an artist vomiting on her she can write. While it isn't her best album it allowed the GP to see Gaga in a new light and forget the mess before that. Chromatica feels like she did what fans wanted her to her despite her not wanting to. It's what the fans requested and probably what the label wanted her to do, too. It lead to a stadium tour and thanks to ASIB she was the topic of the town. Now it's time to find the happy medium and hit a homerun with this album and satisfying both the GP and fans. 4
Mikeymoonshine Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Joanne didn't get rave reviews so who said Gaga "got away with" anything? I also don't get why some people are so obsessed with trying to convince everyone else Chromatica was bad. Like sure it had some production issues but overall I think it deserved it's good reviews. Sorry you can't seem to accept that some people liked it more than you did. 4 1
PrettyHurts Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Compared to her earlier work, Joanne and Chromatica are definitely mid. Thankfully her successful movie career distracted from this 1
Shimenawa Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I blame Bloodpop tbh. He sanitized both Jo & Chrom, and Hold My Hand. But he's gone now so we'll see.

Vegvisir Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Y'all need to give it up, you're never going to convince the world that Gaga isn't a living legend at this point 3
Archetype Posted September 22 Posted September 22 No one else could have made those "mid" albums, so I don't really think they're mid at all. Chromatica contains some of her strongest pop songs in her entire catalogue (Replay, Enigma, ROM) and Joanne contained some of her best lyrics (Joanne title track, MR, Hey Girl). And then when compared to the efforts of other pop girls… let's just say thank you Gaga. 4
jediah556 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I just looked at other posts of yours. Do you actually like anything? At all? 5

jediah556 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 chromatica is literally her highest-rated album on metacritic. I know we cant use reviews to justify opinion, but it's legitimately rated to be her best according to actual music critics that do this for a living. to call that "mid" is factually and quantifiably incorrect 2
