Kristie Kuwa Posted September 22 Posted September 22 As per the title of the thread, i thought it might be fun looking at Essential Top10s of an artist regardless of chart positions. Which 10 songs describe the artist the best in all their glory? As a Beyonce fan, lets start with Beyoncé and my Top10 Essentials of hers (in no order): 1. Crazy in Love 2. Diva 3. Run The World 4. Love On Top 5. Resentment 6. Partition 7. Virgos Groove 8. Ya Ya 9. Dont Hurt Yourself 10. I Care
Klein Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Style All Too Well Enchanted august Cruel Summer cardigan Blank Space State of Grace Clean You Belong With Me This is the top 10 of the recent discography rate and I think it's a very solid essentials list. I'd replace YBWM with Our Song (to show off her country roots a little more), and Clean with tolerate it (because I will always payola evermore) and it's good to go.

gustavothehuman Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) I find it hard to rank Coldplay's songs individually so here are my picks for each album: Don't Panic (2000): many people who call their optimistic worldview inauthentic keep forgetting about this track, we live in a beautiful world y'all. Clocks (2002): one of their greatest achievements when it comes to artistry, Record of the Year at the Grammys for a reason! Square One (2005): the greater presence of bass makes me like this more than "Fix You". It also sums up well the anxious nature of the era. Viva la Vida (2008): probably the best lyrics Chris has ever written. If you want a less well-known pick, I recommend "Yes" for some shoegaze Coldplay! Hurts Like Heaven (2011): there's a lot going on here, it was a great way to quick off their first pop rock experiments. A Sky Full of Stars (2014): the band deserve their flowers for pulling off a timeless EDM hit, that's hard to achieve. Adventure of a Lifetime (2015): the guitar riff is amazing and instantly recognizable, I would say it's the "Clocks" of the 2010s. Arabesque (2019): jazz fusion? Three generations of the legendary Kuti family? A Palestinian oud trio? Stromae? Yes to everything! Coloratura (2021): 10 minutes of pure melodic bliss, the best song Coldplay released in their 27-year career so far. I Am a Mountain (2024): Moon Music has not been released yet so this might change. It's nostalgic and similar to their older material without being reductive. Edited September 22 by gustavothehuman 1

suburbannature Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Mariah has such a diverse discography that this is quite hard, but I tried to include essential ballads, R&B mid tempos, remixes, album cuts, top tier songwriting, pop perfection, influential vocals, etc. Fantasy The Roof Anytime You Need a Friend C+C Mix Breakdown Vision of Love Petals Circles Always Be My Baby Dupri Mix Extended We Belong Together Without You Maybe a holiday song for good measure.

AshleyLovescats887 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) Hmmm I'll choose Halsey for this • 'Ghost' off 'BADLANDS' - one of her very first songs and the hit that got her to stardom. • 'Colors' off 'BADLANDS' - this was THE tumblr girls' anthem and even now the lyrics for the man hit the same poignant way • 'Bad At Love' off 'hopeless fountain kingdom' - a really fun hit where Halsey's lyricism shines a lot. • 'Hopeless' off 'hopeless fountain kingdom' - one of her best closers. • 'Without Me' off 'Manic" - her biggest solo hit and one of the most iconic ways to reveal that your ex is a nasty cheater • '929' off 'Manic' - one of her most personal songs that gets you to know the artist a lot more. • 'The Tradition' off 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power' - probably one of her most well-written songs + an amazing opener. • 'Nightmare' off 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power' - an extremely iconic track. • 'The End' off 'The Great Impersonator' - this might not be a hit nor a fan favorite, but it's really genuine and depressing. • 'Lonely is the Muse' off 'The Great Impersonator' - a HUGE fan favorite that's probably the most Rocksey song in her discography.
