To say she hasn't influenced any of the pop girls, especially of the past 14 years () is just factually wrong. I just took a look at the CURRENT H100 and wrote down the names. There's literally so many more girls that were influenced by Mariah. This list do you actually listen to these people and their music? Only Ariana actually makes sense in here, and even with that yes and remix was one of the most forgettable releases in 2024 and was one of the worst remixes in general. Sabrina Carpenter is actually influenced by Lorde, Taylor Swift and such, Taylor doesn't have the vocal range or genre range to be influenced by Mariah, Gaga is doing her own thing, Megan's music has nothing to do with Mariah Carey. We can agree to disagree, but I think the majority of people would be able to rattle off more MJ/Madonna songs than Mariah songs. 3

This is absolutely no shade to the amazing QoP Madonna, but it's sad that they won't recognize or aren't familiar with her quality music sadly. Popular might be the song due to currency bias, but I doubt Gen A even knows Like A Prayer.

Mariah literally made remixes a thing honey. Quote In the mid-1990s Ms. Carey pioneered a subgenre that some people call the thug-love duet. Nowadays clean-cut pop stars are expected to collaborate with roughneck rappers, but when Ms. Carey teamed up with Ol' Dirty Bastard, of the Wu-Tang Clan, for the 1995 hit "Fantasy (Remix)," it was a surprise, and a smash. - Kelefa Sanneh of The New York Times https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_impact_of_Mariah_Carey Edited September 22 by genio

She's definitely a mega legend and no one can deny that, but for right now she's the mother of christmas and that's it maybe. None of the current popgirls and current soundscape is influenced by Mariah to call her someone's mother... and by current i mean like the last 14 years or something... this delusional lie

I've seen people (and publications) start to call her the Blueprint of Pop which is more accurate considering how she single-handedly changed the sound of modern music. From merging pop and hip-hop (including popularizing rap collabs), to her use of remixes, to melismatic singing in pop, to her songwriting, to pop holiday music, to het use of whistle register She's one of the most musically-influential artists in our lifetime and that's undeniable.

You are so unserious Like A Prayer was just re-introduced to the new generation thanks to that 1,4 BILLION grossing deadpool movie which will be seen and consumed regularly for the next years, to say the new generation doesn't know it is certainly a take. 1
