glitch Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Next up: Chappell Roan compares fame to being hanged, drawn and quartered "I just feel like I'm being pulled in so many different directions, all the while being watched, mocked and humiliated for people's entertainment"
Johnny Jacobs Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Can she get canceled or something already? Omg i can't stand her. Stfu 1 1
Draper. Posted September 21 Posted September 21 She's saying really interesting stuff, but you are the ones that only complain about her complaining and don't read any of it. Why enter these threads to begin with? 1
GeminiCat Posted September 21 Posted September 21 She just got here, like why do we need a political endorsement from her this early? That being said, her team needs to wrap this press tour up ASAP. She's walking on this ice with each quote. She does not read/interview well, just focus on the music. That's what's gotten her this far.
mchl Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Chappell Roan compares fame to uploading your resume and then the next screen is the application asking you to fill in your experience. 7
shookspeare Posted September 21 Posted September 21 next she's going to compare it to Chinese water torture 4

OrgVisual Posted September 21 Posted September 21 I get her point but she needs to shut up for once. Like girl is ruining her good graces lately
Acuminatus Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Yes, another Chappell thread, but I think this portion of the Guardian article is important to highlight. It seems she found a psychiatrist after firing her old one, I hope she can take a break soon and learn to cope with her fame. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2024/sep/20/fame-is-like-going-through-puberty-chappell-roan-on-sexuality-superstardom-and-the-joy-of-drag [Chappell] has gone from cult figure to icon in less time than it takes to grow out a fringe – and she has been candid about how hard the experience has been. She is coping "how anyone would", she says pragmatically. "I'm in therapy twice a week. I went to a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I don't know what's going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn't think I had because I'm not actually sad. But I have every symptom of someone who's severely depressed." The brain fog, forgetfulness, poor focus and "a very lacklustre viewpoint" all clicked into place when she heard the diagnosis. Roan's clear boundaries have promoted a backlash among some fans who have accused her of being "ungrateful". On the VMAs red carpet, she whirled to face a photographer who had been shouting at her and retaliated: "No, you shut the **** up." She went viral again. "I'm very turned off by the celebrity of it all," she says. "Some girls have been in this so long that they're used to that, but I'm not that girl. I'm not gonna be a sweetie pie to a man who's telling me to shut the **** up." She knows that some fans don't want to hear any of this, but stands her ground. "They think I'm complaining about my success. I'm complaining about being abused." 2
RoughOperator Posted September 21 Posted September 21 That is actually crazy and baffling coming from someone like her. I love her music but she needs to get a grasp of reality before saying §h it like this in this moment of history. If Trump gets elected there will eventually be direct repercussions on her fanbase and first and foremost on her. While I don't like her music as much as Chappell's I started respecting Taylor so much during this campaign, and the contrary is happening with this girl as more and more of her declarations emerge.
Marla Singer Posted September 21 Posted September 21 My Chappell Roan bingo card: Fame is like a black fly in your Chardonnay Fame is like a death row pardon two minutes too late Fame is like rain on your wedding day Fame is like a free ride when you've already paid Fame is like the good advice that you just didn't take Fame is like a traffic jam when you're already late Fame is like a "No Smoking" sign on your cigarette break Fame is like 10,000 spoons when you all you need is a knife Fame is like meeting the woman of my dreams then meeting her beautiful wife 1 8
Sergi91 Posted September 21 Posted September 21 She's a white woman… of course she would be fine with saying this stupid statement and be ok with Trump winning. 3 3
XtinaStripped Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Not seeing how any of this will end well for her. She clearly isn't coping well with it and it's not something that will just go away at this point whilst she's still making music.
