ZeroSuitBritney Posted September 25 Posted September 25 This thread Y'all so pissed that she hasn't endorsed Kamala.... POLITICIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO EARN YOUR VOTE. Tell Kamala to do better and campaign for better issues that people care about. Otherwise, this country is going to continue regressing, regardless of it is a Republican or Democrat running it. 5
Wicked Posted September 25 Posted September 25 She lost me with this tiktok, is she calling the democrats "the left"

I think it has more to do with being stuck in a two party system and having the privilege to not endorse one or the other meanwhile the image and inspiration for your art is based on a minority that will suffer from one of those political parties winning. I understand where she's coming from but I also understand why people are mad, she needs to learn to be more careful with her words. 2 1

Polticians shouldn't need celebrity endorsements to make their base happy. They need strong policies and real vision of change. People who get upset by that FACT are perfectly content living in this broken two party system. 3

What would you say if someone invalidated your identity based on some misread comments mixed with bitterness over many things people won't be ready to admit here because they wanna seem more intellectual than the woman they have decided to hate. her cosplaying queerness is the most bizarre critique ive ever seen directed at an artist, considering shes literally lesbian Edited September 25 by KahnumDash typo 2

She expects better than the choices we have, she does not stand for genocide or the erosion of trans rights. Everybody assuming she's somehow 'both siding' this or being a cop out are just interpreting in bad faith. Thank god we have a pop star who actually has the balls to challenge america's policies whether they're from the democrats or not. I hope she keeps being this real. Yes, her words are not always well chosen or polished, but she at least stands for something other than her own career. 5

We have to vote for the less worse. It's really infuriating how y'all don't get this. A ton of people are voting Kamala plugging their nose in disgust, knowing the alternative is losing democracy. And people like Chappell going on and on about bothsides is the exact thing that lost Hilary the election in 2016 and got Trump to be president the first time. Y'all do not get it 3

Velvet Night Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I'm a Chappell fan, but she desperately needs a publicist and time off of social media. I don't think that she can handle this level of fame for much longer. She's digging herself in a deeper hole at this point. Some people are committed to misunderstanding her. Some just don't agree with her. Continuing to speak on the situation isn't the solution to either of those things. She has to just let certain things be, as frustrating as it is. Between this and the whole canceling shows fiasco, among other things, I can imagine she's exhausted, but these situations are not being handled in the best ways at all.
More Than A Melody Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Just now, ZeroSuitBritney said: So if people ask her why she turned down an invitiation to perform at the White House, what should she say? 1. Blacklist the questions. She has a publicist. 2. Failure to do 1, say "I disagree with the policies regarding Israel and Palestine" 3. That's not why she's talking about it, that's a whole different subject where she also answered very stupidly (she said she wanted to perform a poem about Palestine but thought Biden was gonna have a secret service sniper come at her if she did that). She's being asked if she's endorsing Kamala. Once again, refer to #1. Failure to do #1 should have her actually be articulate in what she means. Not this bothsides mess. "I'm not endorsing a candidate because, while I think a possible Trump presidency is abhorrent, I disagree with this, that and this other policy of Kamala's and my conscience doesn't allow me to put the weight of my platform behind her. If she/Biden/the Democratic party heard these issues and worked to do better, they'd have my endorsement because I think Trump is dangerous." Paraphrase that (I presume that's what she wanted to say anyway). Once again, she's a celebrity, with a huge platform, and a team of people working for her. She doesn't have to hop on TikTok and say a bunch of meaningless sentences. She can actually articulate herself better, or, as an alternative, shut up. 1 2
RunUpDoneUp Posted September 25 Posted September 25 (edited) As someone who isn't a kamala fan since her 2016 stint, the people who're going out of their way to make false equivalence between Trump and her are obviously largely morons. I think they're genuinely too dumb to do macro political evaluation and are just interested in personal political wins. The "both sides" thing would sell well if this were 2016 trump, this is 2024, fascist apparent, out in the open, actual bad plans and dictator aspiring Trump. The election is right there. Anyone still doing that "idk gurl, they both so bad :(" stuff knows what they're doing or are too stupid and selfish to act like a normal person. Edited September 25 by RunUpDoneUp 4 2

Literally, the irony of certain people's virtue signaling you constantly see on threads here is that it's deeply selfish lol 1 1
dabunique Posted September 25 Posted September 25 like da whole Palestine issue she brings up im ok with u r in ur right not to vote because of this issue and to hold da Democrats accountable for this but ma'am what part of da left is passing Transphobic laws? and u can't keep sayin how important trans issues r when for you da Palestine issue is much more important Sasha Colby come collect ur daughter and educate her a bit
Namie-Knowles Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Chappel stans using their fave technique to pretend to act stupid in this thread sends. "Why are y'all all saying she's voting for Trump directly. YALL JUST MISOGYNISTIC ZIONIST" Everyone Else: *Who said that GIF* 2 1

She's a queer woman entrenched in queer performance art, and makes explicitly queer music. She said she's voting to protect trans rights, has denounced trump, and has said she's voting for Kamala but won't endorse her as a person or her entire platform. It's like everyone freaking out about this is just looking for an excuse to tear her down, to tell her to shut up, to tell her she's saying things wrong. You all are willfully misconstruing her words in a very malicious manner that says a hell of a lot more about y'all than it does about Chappell's politics and so-called "privilege". 2 1
Matchatea Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Chappell posts a second tiktok this morning about the election again and responding to questions about who she is voting for. Thoughts?
Chemist Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I don't care enough about her to care about her politics, but the way yall bullied her into picking a side is disgusting 1
wish Posted September 25 Posted September 25 This is the clearest she's ever spoken on the topic. And she finally said "genocide" Respect to her for that. With that said, I hope she stops explaining herself from now on. Many people are dedicated to misunderstanding and misconstruing her words, and she shouldn't give them any more power. 1 1
Calvin Posted September 25 Posted September 25 We get it the first time. Now stop doing interviews, don't you hate fame? 1 1
ImpressMeMuch Posted September 25 Posted September 25 There we go. She said what she meant finally. This level of directness is important when she clearly has an audience that is going to misunderstand or misinterpret. Good for her!
