"Lotus" Appreciation Thread.

Today I SUDDENLY wanted to listen to "Lotus" (#7 on the Billboard 200, 56 on Metacritic, gold certification by RIAA), and I realized that almost all the songs there are solid and good for a comeback pop album

So many unforgettable dance vanguard pop sexy nostalgic not-half-baked bops with a great lyrics. Also her voice sounds very confident and powerful

Rise, lotus, this is just beggining.

Your Body needs to be certified 2x Platinum and Just A Fool needs to be certified Platinum! 😑

Lotus Intro, Your Body, Sing For Me, Empty Words, JUST A FOOL, Best of Me, Light Up The Sky... what an album now that I look back at it, back in the day MTWM was my favorite tho.

its my least favorite project by xtina..some songs are cool  but generally i have a problem with the production.

Not sure if you're serious or kidding but Lotus is overhated and that's the truth.

Lotus Intro, Your Body, Let There Be Love, Blank Page, Light Up The Sky and Empty Words are excellent tracks. Just a Fool is cute but generic. The rest go from decent to noisy as hell but the songwriting remains acceptable. It's the production and some of her singing that really is just... a bit jarring.

But I'm such a cupcake stan because I can listen from front to back and enjoy it throughout.

I actually really like Lotus and think it's better than Liberation. My biggest problem with it is the mastering, some songs sound SO bad they're practically unlistenable.

There's a cute little album hidden inside it, if they cut it a little and if they fix the production.

1. Lotus Intro

2. Your Body

3. Around the World

4. Red Hot Kinda Love

5. Light Up the Sky

6. Sing for Me

7. Just a Fool

8. Best of Me

9. Blank Page

10. Cease Fire

11. Let There Be Love

No. it's a terrible album.

i wonder what her thought process was when she listened back to that tracklist after finishing the album and ok'd it with her team for release.

Lotus is by far her worst album. The photoshoot is terrible, the production is poor, her passion is minimal, you can see she was totally lost after Bionic.

I used to love Army of Me lmao, but it's ver cheesy. Red Hot Kinda of Love is funny. Make The World Move could be way better, specially being a feat with a powerful soul singer like Cee-Lo. Your Body is trully a pop perfection. Let There Be Love is so generic, I don't know why she loves it so much. Then the "ballad part" starts, and for me, it's all very unintersting. Her voice on SHing for me is very out of place, BLAND Page is just another piano ballad without a great melody. Maybe if it could have some violins in there, with a better production, it  could be better. Soft vocals would transmit the message of the song better . Cease Fire is ok, but the begining ends instantly for me. Around The World is forgetable, but I like how she sings it. Circles is very "teenager" lol. I like the """rock""" part, but overall it's meh. Best of Me is probably one of the worst. Just a Fool is cute. Could have being a bigger song than it is if they worked on it as a properly single during that time. At least it has a catch melody, something that Xtina's ballads are missing since Bionic. Light Up The Sky is that 2010's empowerment song that no one can listen to anymore lol. Empty Worlds is really cute, but it's something that I imagine that youger singers would be singing for their youger audience, like Demi or Selena. And finally, Shut Up, a song that is kinda a Circles' sister. Not my thing at all.
Is it that nuclear bomb that some people paint it? Absolutly not. But being a Xtina's album, a singer who gave us till that day Stripped, Back to Basics and Bionic, it's very disappointing and way below her potential.

Anyway, here are some Lotus gaycats

One of the worst, laziest, phoned in albums by a pop girl.

Posted

almost everything is awful about this album, except a few songs. the production/mixing is too bad. I just can't get how she couldn't get a better team to handle this because it really sounds like a mixtape recorded on a 00's phone.

It has some bops. I was friends with the user who made "Your Body" a stan twt sensation back in 2022. "Let There Be Love" is a great song. paVlYHA.gif

It's her worst album! Bad songs and bad production!

1. Lotus Intro 7/10
2. Army of Me 5/10
3. Red Hot Kinda Love 3/10
4. Make the World Move (featuring Cee Lo Green) 3/10
5. Your Body 7/10
6. Let There Be Love 6/10
7. Sing For Me 4/10
8. Blank Page 8/10
9. Cease Fire 7/10
10. Around The World 3/10
11. Circles 2/10
12. Best Of Me 4/10
13. Just A Fool (ft. Blake) 7/10

Light Up The Sky 3/10
Empty Words 4/10

This could have been a decent EP with a good production:

4. Blank Page 8/10
5. Just A Fool (ft. Blake)
6. Best Of Me

X's worst album, sorry. Lotus Intro and Your Body are classics though

It's not a horrible album, it just doesn't flow or mesh well all together. There's also a few clunkers on it, but it has bops like Your Body, Let There Be Love, Just a Fool, Sing for Me, Red Hot Kinda Love, and Around the World that still go off for me :celestial5:

Posted

Yeah it's a great body of work if you trim it into a nice lil EP

1 Your Body

2 Let There Be Love

3 Red Hot Kind of Love

Posted

I like it but it sounds very of its time

Blank Page had the potential to become the best ballad in her catalogue (I said what I said), even my favourite song of the decade, but that vocal performance is jarring. I still remember how furious I was when I first heard it, and that was after months of waiting since that snippet of Sia singing the chorus first leaked.

If it were the album "Bionic," I could agree, but "Lotus"... not so much.

Justice for Bionic! Truly her best album.

A little off-topic, but one thing that always pops up for me when I recall Lotus is this moment. :ahh:

The journalist telling Christina 'You just announced Let There Be Love as the next single' and she looking confused. :ahh:
